A group photo of representatives from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Feed the Future Initiative; Ministry of Agriculture and students, when the USAID hosted a farewell program for 29 Tanzanian students receiving grants to study agriculture and nutrition at universities in Tanzania and abroad. The scholarships are sponsored by the American People through USAID under the Feed the Future Initiative. Over a five-year period, Feed the Future is sponsoring 95 Tanzanians for postgraduate studies in agricultural and nutrition sciences. The first cohorts of six Tanzanian students pursuing Master’s degrees are scheduled to complete their studies by September 2013. A second cohort of 58 trainees began Master’s degree and PhD studies in 2012, and they are now in mid-course at universities in the United States and throughout Africa. The third cohort of 29 trainees, who were commissioned on July 10, will pursue Master’s degrees: 13 in the United States, four in Tanzania, ten in other African countries, and two in India.
