Symbion Power, today brushed off what it described as fraudulent and grossly exaggerated claims by a Dubai based firm, Rental Services and Solutions and it’s associated sub suppliers.
Speaking from Washington DC, Symbion Senior Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs Adi Raval said “ This is actually a tax matter. This company and it’s sub suppliers were working as a sub-contractor to Symbion for 3 years from 2011 to 2014. During that time none of them paid the Tanzania government a single dollar of tax, as they are required to by law”.
He continued “ This company maintained a presence in Tanzania and they had expatriate and local staff based in Arusha, Dodoma and Dar es Salaam. The law requires that they pay taxes and they have not done that.
"We have withheld tax from payments to them and we have paid that money to the Tanzania Revenue Authority. When they produce a certificate that shows they have paid their taxes to the TRA we will release further payment to them”.
