The newly appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Tanzania (BoT), Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, has enviable academic, consultancy and leadership credentials that have enabled her to excel in various positions so far.

President Jakaya Kikwete appointed Dr Mwamba as Deputy Governor for a period of five years with effect from June 13, 2011. She replaces Dr Enos Bukuku, who was recently appointed as Deputy Secretary General of the East African Community.
Dr Mwamba becomes the first female ever to hold such executive position at the Bank of Tanzania.
Until her new appointment, she was a senior lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam.
Born in October 1961, Dr Mwamba is a holder of a Ph.D (Economics) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, which she obtained in 1998. She undertook her undergraduate and masters studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, where she graduated in 1984 and 1986, respectively.
While at the University of Dar es Salaam from 1984, Dr Mwamba held various academic positions that included tutorial assistant, assistant research fellow with the UDSM’s Economic Research Bureau (ERB), research fellow ERB, senior research fellow and senior lecturer. She also held various administrative posts.
Dr Mwamba is an accomplished publisher, with dozens of academic publications to her name, covering various economic, social and women issues. She has also taken part in various consultancies covering various economic sectors like agriculture, public expenditure, transport, rural financing and livestock sector.
Dr Mwamba is also the chairperson of the Institute of Finance Management Governing Board since 2007 and the Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) Coordination Board since October 2007 to-date.
She also serves in the planning and finance committees of Ardhi University, Morogoro Muslim University, as well as the Aga Khan Foundation East African Regiaonal Committee.

She served as member in the BoT Board of Directors from August 2004 to March 2011. Dr Mwamba is married with three children.

ReplyDeletekwanza napenda kukushukuru kwa kazi nzuri unaiyoifanya ya kutupasha habari za hapa na pale! pili ni kuhusu kutumia hii lugha ya kigeni (English) nafikiri hii habari ya makamu wa gavana wa benki kuu ya Tanzania ilitakiwa iwe kwa lugha ya Kiswahili. Kwa sababu hii habari inawahusu Watanzania ijapokuwa wenye kusoma blog walio wengi wako nje ya Tanzania, lakini ni bora ingeandikwa kwa lugha ya kiswahili ata yule MTZ ambaye ajui Kiingeleza aweze kuelewa ni kitu kinaongelewa kuhusu huyo mwanamke!!!!
