Miss Mexico, Perla Beltran Acosta, added glamour to Johannesburg’s Turbine Hall when she was named Miss World Top Model. She was wearing a breath-taking ballgrown designed by Kluk CGdt.

The Miss World Top Model, which showcases seven of South Africa’s leading designers, is one of five individual fast track events held before the final of the Miss World Festival on December 12 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, with the winners of each of the individual contests automatically going into the semi-finals.

The designers who showcased their work - Thula Sindi; Kluk CGdT; JJ Schoeman; Marc & Michael; Haroun Hansrot; RJKay and Diamond Face Couture – each provided magical golden dresses for 12 contestants.

Perla recently achieved a university degree in engineering and her ambition is to become a successful businesswoman. The reason Perla studied engineering is because she feels it is important to be informed about how the world evolves.

Second in Miss World Fashion was Miss Vietnam, Tran Thi Huong Giang with Miss Martinique Ingrid Litter in third spot.

Miss Mexico now joins Miss Japan Eruza Sasaki (Miss World Sportswoman), Miss Canada Yanbing Ma and Miss Sierra Leone Mariatu Kargbo (joint Miss World Talent Show winners) and Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino (Miss World Beach Beauty) in the final rounds of the Miss World competition.

Only one of the remaining 107 contestants still has the chance to be fast-tracked by taking the title of Miss World Beauty with a Purpose (to be announced at the Miss World final on Saturday, December 12 at Gallagher Convention Centre).

The City of Johannesburg is proud to be hosting the Miss World spectacle for the second year running and showcasing the city to a worldwide audience of more than a billion.
