A delegation of Sino-Africa Joint Research
Center-Chinese Academy of Sciences (SAJOREC-CAS), University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) has on
6th July, 2017 paid their second visit at the State University of
Zanzibar (SUZA) seeking to sustain collaborative
relationship which has been established between the parties. The delegation was led by Prof. Xue Yan, the
Deputy Director, SAJOREC-CAS while SUZA was represented by Prof. Idris Rai, the
Vice Chancellor.
The visitors have agreed to partner with SUZA in research and
staff capacity development in areas of environmental studies, fisheries, remote
sensing and water resource management. Under this partnership SUZA staff and
students can benefit from various scholarships (MSc and PhD) and fellowship
programs.
Through support and guidance from CAS, China is
focused on building "big science" infrastructure, as well as on
developing a talent pool of top notch scientists for the country. This talent
pool is being built through programs to retain and cultivate the best Chinese
scientists. CAS is encouraged to travel globally for training and to develop
collaborations, as well as numerous incentive programs for international
scientists to visit and work in China; this is the reason behind their second
visit at SUZA within a year period.
