The aim of the campaign is to make sure students, teachers and parents aware of the availability of safe lights that use the energy of the sun to charge.
These lights will be able to replace unsafe lighting sources, such as candles and kerosene, which are nowadays most of the time still used for studying during the evening hours.
More than 15 fire accidents have happened in schools during the last year claimed the Minister of Labor and Youth Development during the Femina HIP Youth Conference last month.
Mrisho Mpoto is the ambassador of this campaign, and together with Femina HIP and D.light he aims to create a movement throughout Tanzania to see that all students are equipped not only with books, pens and uniforms but also with safe, bright solar lights.
