Kaka Muhidin,
i do not know what is going on with Kissfm and RFA or TvT, haven't contacted them (and I am not, because they wouldn't provide an answer anyway) but, I do understand the frustrations of some people not being able to listen to KissFm and RFA online. I am afraid that I am not able to connect to the radios today as I did two days ago.
You know, when the broadcasting radio has a limited bandwidth and the peak has hit the maximum due to many listeners consuming the streaming audio at the same time (and you can't stop people from listening), one can not override the paid and set bandwidth limit except by paying for more. That is why some people were able to tune into it and now they can't.
I think the radios need to buy more bandwidth per day or per month. So, I am sorry for all the frustrations that people have. And about paying to be able to watch TvT? a public Tv on a commercial JumpTv? What a hilarious joke of the year! What is the ordinary taxpayer's money doing if we can't get paracetamol in the govt hospitals, no good road to the rural areas where we very much depend for one of our basic needs i.e. Food and Water and now watching or listening to a public radio and tv?
But what can one do when the system is already corrupted with corrupt "policheteans"? You would think that Tido and all the responsible people would know and do better. Let's admit this is Tanzania and we can do better - but when though?
Siasa si hasa,
bali visa na mikasa,
Subi.

Kuna Maoni 9 mpaka sasa

  1. It is for the reasons that you have just mentioned, if we are not able to buy the medicines then the little money that we have should be spent on the priority issues such as medicenes, roads, education etc. If you want to listen to public radio and we do not have enough money then you should be willing to pay. The tax maoney paid by the poor peasants should be there to assist them on issues of prioroty to them not cater for the whims of you people who do not pay a single cent in tax yet are at the forefront to question about the taxpayers' money. How many of the peasant farmers do have access to internet or can afford one?

  2. oooh ps!, no no,You know what what we pay goes to the pocket of the few, the fisadis who know how to spend poor people money, going abroad staying in 5* hotels for 2 weeks, with reasons of attracting the investors while majority of poor Tanzanian are starving

  3. I hope you are talking to people who do not pay tax money and those who steal from the Govt, but if you are questioning me, I do pay tax as per laws and regulations of where I live and work.

And how about my ten of hundreds of relatives who pay tax and yet have to use impassable roads, receive poor services and receive no retirement benefits from the Govt?

I find it very fair to represent and speak for them as they would for me.

If it is such a problem watching a public Tv over the internet that has few users as you claim , help me understand why we lack enough equipment, staff and medications in the hospitals. How about the roads and education?

How is the tax payer's money helping the ordinary individual?

  4. Subi,

Thanks for venting your spleen. I tried those links but they are temperamental. For us, in Diaspora, we pinned all our hopes on those TV links. All in all, you are doing a stirling job. I have read many of your attachments and they are fab.

  5. To anonymous above(who posted first first comment).

You have totally introduced a different topic we didnt expect you to.The author questioned on public money expenditure.

If there are no essential drugs in hospitals, no good roads, no clean and adequate water and other public services, where is the money collected from poor wananchi as tax? Where are subsides, loans, grants, etc, that we receive from our present colonial masters(call them investors if you wish)? That is the question.

It seems you have diverted the question for your own intrest or just because you overlooked it. We can no longer tolerate embezzlers of public funds as you want us to do.

If you are among these nyangaos please stand out from the crowd lest you are judged as a group. What about other Wadaus, what are your views?

  6. Kuuliza si ujinga.

How is the Televisheni ya Taifa funded? Is it allowed to air commercials or sell its programmes to other networks?

In UK, we pay annual TV Licence, failure of which can land one behind the slammer or pay a fine of £1000.

If we know how they obtain their funds then we'll better positioned to critize or sympathise with them.

  9. Dear Watanzania,

I would like to shed light in the TUT issue, both stations inluding TVT and Radio Tanzania are run as commercial intities. They receive no goverment funding except technical support from Japan. The station generates revenues by advertising. Currently in line with what the initial plan was, the station is ranked No 1 Nationally kicking ITV's Butt in most areas. As for bandwidth, am sure demand has surpassed supply and priority is the mkulima over the online stream. For listening to other radio options, try Bongo5. I believe they do have Clouds FM streaming. Its free, paid for by advertisers.
