Students in higher learning institutions, lecturers and the general public are set for the first-ever open dialogue on mining in the country on March 21 at the Saint Augustine University in Mwanza.

The dialogue is organized by Capital Promoters International (CPI) and supported by various varsities, the Tanzania Chamber of Minerals and Energy (TCME) and Tanzania Standard Newspapers, publishers of Daily News and Habari Leo.

According to the chief co-ordinator of the dialogue, Gabriel Nderumaki who also the Managing Director of Capital Promoters International (CPI), the dialogue aims to bring together students, scholars and dons from various higher learning institutions to discuss the mining sector openly.

“For a number of years now, there has been discussions on mining in the absence of an open forum where the youth and experts could discuss the sector which is crucial to national development”, Nderumaki said.

He said that four papers will be presented by prominent individuals in the area of mining at the event dubbed “Inter-Varsities Mining Dialogue” to start at 9am and end at around 3pm.

Zitto Kabwe, one of the most popular and youthful lawmakers and a member of the Bomani Committee tasked to review the country’s mining policy, will present a paper on “How should Tanzania manage its natural resources”.

Also in the list is Dr Peter Kafumu, who is the Commissioner of Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. He will present a paper on whether the government is losing out to mining companies.

Richard Mgamba, a seasoned journalist and CNN Award winner is also among the presenters. He will discuss the role of media has in shaping the future of mining in Tanzania.

Also featuring is Deo Mwanyika, Honorary Secretary with of the Tanzania Camber of Minerals and Energy . He will present a paper on the success, challenges and prospects in the mining sector over the past decade.

Nderumaki said that due to the high public demand and requests from other universities so far, the dialogue will also be held at the Mzumbe University in Morogoro on March 28, University of Dar es Salaam on April 18 and the University of Dodoma on April 25.

“We would like as many people as possible countrywide to take part in this dialogue openly so that they are all on the same page”, he said.

    mdau wenu aliyeko london Dr shayo amefanya utafiti wa kuangalia nafasi za masoko ya precious stones and semi precious stones huko UK na baadhi ya nchi 27 ambazo ni wanachama wa EU. Aliwahi kuniambia kuwa ana data base ya wanunuzi wote wa haya madudu mnayochima huko chini i.e. minerals

    Ili kuweka mikakati mizuri ya kuweza kuwasaidia wachimbaji , basi ingekuwa vyema mkamtafuta akawasaidieni.kuwapa hali halisi na wapi mtaweza kuuzazidi.

    Lazima mkubali watu wenye nia njema na taifa la Tanzania wanafanya vitu vya kuwasaidia watanzania.

    utafiti huo umewezeshwa na makampuni ya nje ambayo yanakusanay taariza ambazo zinawapa nguvy ya kuwakandamiza wanapokuja kuomba kuwekeza.

    Huyu mdau anadetails nyingi sana za upande wa masoko, ambazo haya wizara yenyewe haina, kwa kile wanachosema kutokuwa na resource za kufanya tafiti.

    So, msiwe na woga mtafuteni haka kajamm hata kupitia balozi yetu pale london, Ninavyomuelewa si mchungu wa mawazo na atakuwa amewasaidieni sana.
