Someone sent me an e-message acknowledging some stuff I write. I quickly replied by quoting him an American scribe, Will Rogers. He said: "I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts," he said.
Spot on! The most hilarious sentence in the last 50 years is to hear some senior government officials climb into numerous fora around the world, pull long and sad faces and say: "We in Tanzania are poor, our people have inadequate medical care.
Our education system hardly exists...."blah!" "blah!" "blah!" Then we gratefully accept rice aid from Japan. But ours is the same country which bought a radar system at a rip-off price and some people have benefited handsomely from the scam and are still being called "mheshimiwa."
Ours is a country which bought a presidential jet at a rip-off price. The actual price was simply doubled. Better for Tanzanians to eat grass if they have to eat! Which is very understandable. Some guys have to make money to play with every five years. They call it democracy.

wanstahili jela wote, kwa nini tusiwafungulie kesi?
ReplyDeleteNdugu wananchi msilalamike. Pesa za kodi zenu ndio hizo tunazitumia kwenda kuombea pesa nje za kuwaletea maendeleo. Nyingine tunazitumia kununua mashangingi ili tuweze kuwahudumieni nyinyi wananchi.
ReplyDeleteAdam,
ReplyDeleteI hope you do remembered basketball player by name "Magazeti" that he used to play for Magnet and Pazi back in 80's at Gymkhana ground. Anyway, rationale, I think it will be a good idea if you can have radio talk show that will be syndicate all over the world. This can be done by Internet streaming. You are doing great job to keep infrom us through your outstanding writing and keep it up..
ReplyDeleteTHE GRAPE VINE HAS IT WE ARE ABOUT TO BUY YET ANOTHER PRESIDENTIAL JET!!A BOEING I UNDERSTAND THIS TIME!! SO WE HAVE LEARNED NOTHING. WHERE ARE THE AIRPORTS IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THAT JET TO LAND? WE SHOULD BE BUILDING AIRPORTS (NOT STADIA), RUNNING ATC PROFESSIONALLY AND CONNECTING THE COUNTRY NOT FLYING TO DUBAI. IF YOU HAVE A WELL CONNECTED COUNTRY A GOOD DOMESTIC AIRLINE YOU CAN GROW TO INTERNATIONAL THE AIRLINE INTO INTERNATIONAL ROUTES, STARTING WITH NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES- THIS IS THE PROVEN PATH OF GROWTH OF PRECISION AIR. YOU WOULD ALSO BOLSTER INTERNAL BUISINESS BY IMPROVING LOCAL CONNECTIVITY. IF THE PRESIDENT WANTS A JET LET HIM SIMPLY HAVE A WELL RUN ATC (NOT BY AN INSURER) AND HE WOULD SIMPLY HIRE A JET FROM ATC AND HAVE IT KITTED OUT PRESIDENTIALLY FOR HIS TRIPS WHEN HE NEEDS TO TRAVEL. STOP KIKWETE, I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LEARN FROM YOUR PREDECESSORS' MISTAKES.
ReplyDeleteIgweeee!! Adam Lusekelo,Umuofia kwako Chief, Malayale ,Ifumu

Mheshimiwa Michuzi Salaam!
ReplyDeleteAdamu Lusekero anaandika mambo ambayo ni mazuri kufikirisha! Nimemsoma tangu zamani akiwa anaandika kwenye kona ya "With a light touch".
Tufanye nini? Mimi ninaamini utakuja wakati ambapo hatutawza kuvumilia tena, na tutahitaji mapinduzi ya aina yoyote.
You can full some of the people some of the time, but you cannot full all of the people all of the time"
ReplyDeleteYote haya tunayapata kutoka kwenye kodi zenu. Msione tunaota vitambi, tunatembelea magari mazuri, hii yote ni kujenga `good image' kimataifa.
Mhhh, samahani kidogo, nihitajika kwenye kikao na wafadhili...
Hi guys,
ReplyDeleteIt has been always giving me a great satisfaction, hearing comments and ideas from different Tanzanian idealist and patriotic about our beloved country. But nothing special has been organized or done from our part that is, mere Tanzanians. Yes, our leaders have from a great number of years been a shame to our country!! You might think their financial capacity put them there but no! They are organized!! And always destabilizing us!!! We are 40m nation of people! Over 18 years with capacity are more than 20m, what does that tell us!? We are strong and yet we have not discovered it. You know how many voters put them in power!! How many hopeless teachers put them back to power? Wake up Bongo! You always could and please let us not complain while everything is in our hands, let us be organized and execute!!
By the way we are organizing to put a leader with a capacity whom we we want, i cant mention the Constituency!
Mzee wa Mwanza
Damn you Adam! You are my Cup of Tea!May the almighty in heaven bless your mighty Pen!Trouble is,this country has never had the opportunity of "tasting" the other side of the "political coin!".We have had the same Leadership, the same pattern of thinking, the same commanders of empty rhetorics and political romanticisms, the same Doers for decades and decades! Not that they have not done nothing all these years! But THE INNER BOX has now ultimately run out of ideas!Yet they dont want to admit it!Corruption has now been "institutionalised"!To them Democracy is the perpetuation of the Status Quo and political grandeur!Sadly,we have allowed "politicians of our own making" to hijack "the thinking process, the creativity of new ideas"on our behalf! So much so that,we have all willingly chosen to go asleep and let the Politicians do the thinking for us all!Instead of economics driving politics,it is now politics in the drivers seat dictating all the whims and pitfalls!"False Start in Africa",cant remember who that was, whether Rene Dumont or what! But well over 50 years of Honey mooning in Africa have sadly vanished, can we still afford another honey mooning this time probably in the Jupiter, not Moon anymore? The Moon is already overcrowded!Keep it up ADAM,you are gorgeous!with your pen that is!
ReplyDeleteBrother Lusekelo and others,
ReplyDeletei am not crying because my father told me when I was very young that men should not cry. So, you will se tears on my face. This shows how effective your message can be. You used a simple language that can be understood by even a junior English student. But the message is also valid. When people are fighting to clean themselves, when Tanzanians are cheering corrupt leaders, when mheshimiwa does not want to stay at home as he cannot shout to fisadis, when we cannot laugh at Zimbabwean economy (what is the current inflation rate?). I am now 32 years old, I think I should start preparing for next year. Si, you can see even Zito has been silenced
Just to add cream to Adam Lusekelo's column, let me chip here a few definitions of the much talked about economic phenomenon that grip our daily lives today and which have caused so much confusion to most of our bloggers! How many of us, do we really know the differences between Inflation,Deflation and Stagflation?Briefly defined,INFLATION is an increase in the price of a basket of goods and services, that is representative of the economy as a whole. It is measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which follows the price changes of specific goods and services through time.Whereas DEFLATION can be defined as Rapid Inflation which sees price increase so quickly that Money largely loses its convenience as a medium of exchange. This will usually result in HIGHER UNEMPLOYMENT as profits fall, factories shut and incomes shrink. It measures the average change from month to month in the prices of consumer goods and services purchased in the country, similar to the Retail Price Index (RPI),but there are differences in coverage and methodology. While,STAGFLATION can be defined as A period of both HIGH INFLATION and HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT.It is often caused by an adverse supply shock! So,when it comes to analysing our economic crisis per se subsequent to the Global Economic Crunch, which unfortunately most of our disillussioned politicians do not seem to realise, one has to be very carefull in distinguishing those three terms which may sound to mean the same, even though they are different terms!Gross Economic Product (GDP) is a measure of the total economic activity occurring in the country. Is Tanzania currently facing A Stagflation?or A Deflation? or simply An Inflationary Spiral?in the light of economic turmoils and sectoral imbalances that have resurfaced in our economy? Is it justified to keep on blaming "the outside world" for our economic irresponsibility and external indebtedness?Um throwing this to you Adam, and the Fora ofcourse!....tonnie.....
Asante.
