“SWAHILI FASHION WEEK 2009”
The annual Swahili Fashion Week 2009 is slated for November 2009 in Dar es Salaam, with 12 tp designers showcasing the last year's collections, including those from Zanzibar and Mwanza. This time around some 27 application from different designers were received.
The Swahili Fashion week FAB (Fashion Advisory Board) Members Selected 15 Designer at the FAB meeting on 15 August at the British Council Auditorium, The selected designers shall be Showcasing at the Second Annual Swahili Fashion Week.
This year the focus is on Creativity, Brand Building , and Quality of product and Culture Compliance. Swahili Fashion week is the dawn of a new era, initiating a dynamic and promising platform for the fashion industry in Tanzania.
The Swahili Fashion Week is geared towards being the most sought out after Fashion platform, in Eastern Africa for the International market. Swahili Fashion week is a platform for designers, both fashion and accessory, from Swahili speaking countries to showcase their creativity, market their art and networking with clients all aimed at Promoting Fashion as an income generating, Job creating industry emphasizing the " Made in Tanzania " patriotism.
The successful Inaugural Swahili Fashion Week 2008 took place on 5 & 6 of November 2008 in Dar es Salaam under the meticulous choreography and direction of Jan Malan Umzingeli (http://www.janmalan.com/) from South Africa .
Not only did it showcase Tanzanian Designer and Models but also the Finalist of M’Net Face of Africa 2008. More surprises are expected this year.
