Togo team bus attacked by gunmen in Angola By Ann Gripper, Mirror.co.uk 8/01/2010
ReplyDeleteThe Togo team bus has been attacked in Angola on the way to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Sparrow Hawks, who have Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor in their squad, were travelling from their training base in Congo.
City have confirmed Adebayor was unhurt in the attack, but Togo officials say the driver was killed and two players were injured.
The players who were hit are thought to be defender Serge Akakpo and reserve keeper Kodjovi Obilalé.
"I'm okay but several players are in a bad state," Togo and Nantes striker Thomas Dossevi told French radio station RMC.
"We are still at hospital. We were machine-gunned like dogs and had to remain hidden under our seats for around 20 minutes to avoid the bullets.
"It’s awful. We had security but it wasn’t enough."
