The International Conference on the Great Lakes region (ICGLR) with the support of GTZ, the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Communication Group (UNCG) and the Tanzania National Coordination Mechanism is holding a week long Workshop for the ICGLRYouth Representatives. The workshop opens this morning at the Giraffe Hotel in Dar es salaam

his is in line with the ICGLR Pact where Member States committed to facilitate the establishment of the Youth Forum by enabling the Youth Leaders to meet at national and regional levels.

The major objective of this Workshop is to enable the Youth to identify common needs and Challenges that they face in different countries as well as to share good practices the different Countries are undertaking to address the needs and challenges. The workshop will also train the Youth Representatives on conflict resolution, democratic governance and Human Rights.

The conference is expected to bring together more than 50 youths from 11 countries in the Great Lakes region (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Congo Brazaville, Angola and Republic of Central Africa) also there will be representative from Government of Tanzania, United Nations, GTZ and other international Organisations. The Venue for this Conference will be at Giraffe Oceanic View – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
