ATN GOES DIGITAL AS AGAPE LIFE CHURCH CELEBRATES 9TH ANNIVERSARY

World Agape Ministries (WAM) was founded in 1992 by Revs. Vernon and Anny Fernandes. The ministry is registered under the Societies Ordinance, 1954 and holds Certificate of Registration No. SO. 7511 issued on the 24^th Nov, 1992.

World Agape Ministries are the owners of Agape Television Network (ATN) and Agape Life Church (ALC). As a result of much demand from the viewers of ATN, Agape Life Church was born in February 2002. So today ALC celebrated its 9^th anniversary. Agape Life Church has branches in Arusha, Tanga, Moshi, Dodoma, Mbeya, Kyela, Mwanza, Bukoba, Karagwe, Kigoma, Iringa, Morogoro, Songea and Sumbawanga. The main Church is located at Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam with a branch in Temeke and operational zones in the City Centre, Kinondoni, Sinza, Mikocheni, Mbezi Beach, Tabata, Ukonga, Kimara and Mbagala.

Agape Television Network aired its first programmes on the 15^th Sept 2001. Presently ATN’s terrestrial network has analogue TV transmitters in the following nine (9) locations:

1. Kisarawe (Dar es Salaam and Coast)

2. Tanga

3. Moshi

4. Arusha

5. Mwanza

6. Dodoma

7. Mbeya

8. Kigoma and

9. Sumbawanga

ATN’s signal is also available via satellite (C-Band) over the entire African continent and parts of the Middle East.

Presently ATN’s signal is also available on digital platform in Dar es Salaam through Agape Associates Multiplex System via brand of TING decoders. The digital signal will be available all over Tanzania by mid-night 14^th February 2011.

ATN is gradually introducing innovations aimed at colouring its content. This is evidenced by the inclusion of:

1. African Rhythms

2. UEFA Champions League

3. Newspaper review

4. Local Dramas

5. Comedies and Movies, in its programme lineup.

Coming soon on ATN will be Wildlife/Nature, Nigerian Movies, Documentaries and Talk Shows on Sports etc.

UEFA Champions League will restart on the 15^th February 2011. ATN has exclusive rights to air the tournament in Tanzania. All the 19 game fixtures will be aired by ATN and made available to everyone on digital platform.

ATN TO LAUNCH A SECOND TV CHANNEL SOON

Innovations being done on ATN’s programming aim transforming the station into a General Channel. In view of the above, it has become necessary for the Ministry (WAM) to consider the introduction of a second TV channel to serve the Churches, Church groups and Ministries. The new channel will provide the Churches with a platform upon which Christian teachings aimed at bringing hope, inspiration, encouragement and edification to the viewers will be broadcast direct to their homes. Other areas to receive attention include:

1. Family values and ethics

2. Christian Music (Songs and Hymns)

3. Documentaries on Church history and other developmental activities by individual Churches, Church groups and Ministries

4. Christian Movies etc,
