On March 5, U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Dana L. Banks welcomed Dr. Bernadeta Killian, Dean of the University of Dar es Salaam's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, to present a 1.6 million Tsh grant ($10,000 USD) for procurement of two editing laptops, four monitoring radio receivers, and one monitoring screen for the university's media laboratory. Mr. Anuary Mkama, a reporter with Mlimani Television - a subsidiary of the university - interviewed Ms. Banks and Dr. Killian following the grant signing event at the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam. "This grant represents the American people's commitment to promote freedom of the press in Tanzania, and our commitment to contribute to the professionalization and education of Tanzanian journalism students," said Ms. Banks.

This is good news to me! Congratulations SJMC
ReplyDeletepersonally I feel the US govt could give more to the Sija considering the! relationship of both our countries
ReplyDeleteThis is real a good thing, but sometimes I ask myself the kind and amount of grant given (1.6 Million).I had a thought that this amount of grant could not be that much publicized. I am not impressed with this actually, SJMC are by themselves able to buy two laptops.
