TMCC series for 2012 began with a bang recently as they began the discussion on Branding. It was discussed at different levels; Personal, Corporate and Nation Branding by some of the greatest minds. One of such great minds was Ambassador Juma Mwapachu who spoke passionately on Branding Tanzania.

In recognition of his contributions to the economic development of Tanzania, Ambassador Mwapachu, the immediate past Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC), has been appointed Patron of the Tanzania Marketing Communications Conference (TMCC).

Speaking on the appointment, Mr. Rodgers Mbaga, Director/CEO of Marketing Initiatives Limited – MIL said, ‘TMCC has become a movement that is gaining momentum at a very high rate and there is a need to engage influential Tanzanians in the planning and execution of the mission of the TMCC events. This led us into a rigorous search of a credible and committed individuals and corporate organizations to partner with us.’

Mr. Mbaga, still speaking at the acceptance meeting, stressed that it is rare to find highly successful and influential public figures who are still interested in academics and capacity building movements. For Ambassador Mwapachu, The immediate past Secretary General of East African Community, ‘knowledge and experience cannot be traded for anything’. That is why we wanted him on board with us.

According to Ikechukwu Kalu, a Director of MIL, ‘we were extremely excited when Ambassador Mwapachu broke the news of his acceptance to join TMCC as Patron. We believe this is the beginning of great things for the Marketing, Public Relations and Communication industry in Tanzania’.

TMCC is also very proud to announce appointment of two ‘great minds’; Innocent Mungy, a Seasonal PR & Communications Practitioner and Rosemary Mwakitwange, a Marketing and Management Consultant. The two ‘Gurus’ will, apart from other things, be advising and guiding TMCC on selection of themes and topics to be used in different TMCC events.

The Tanzanian Marketing Communication Conference was conceived in 2011 by two astute Marketing colleagues, Rodgers Mbaga and Ikechukwu Kalu who saw a huge gap in the knowledge and understanding of the marketing communication processes involved in creating value in any enterprise.

The theme of the conference in 2011 was “Tanzania’s Social-Economic Challenges and Prospects; the Inevitable Role of Marketing Communications“. It was very well attended. This year, TMCC has planned a full year program that includes seminars (April & June), conference (September) and a Marketing safari in December 2012.

The 1st seminar for 2012 was on ‘Branding’, held at Serena Hotel Dar es salaam on 12th April 2012. It was such a big success.

The 2nd seminar in the TMCC series for 2012 will hold on 29th June at the Prestigious BOT State-of-the-Art Conference Facility and catering will be handled by Serena Hotel, Dar Es Salaam. Its main objective is to empower enterprises to become more efficient and profitable through a deeper understanding of the marketing decision process across the business.

It’s a one day intensive seminar on ‘Marketing for Non Marketing Professionals’ and about 150 professionals from all fields/professions and spanning across the Government, Private and Non-profit organizations are expected to attend.

Ikechukwu Kalu seized the opportunity to call on marketing and non marketing professionals to brace up for the challenges ahead since Marketing is so crucial in creating value for any enterprise. He also thanked TMCC partners - Push Observer, Daily News, Clouds Media, Aggrey & Clifford, Serena Hotels, Delfina, Mark-Ad Printers and Customer Passion Point and East Africa Unique, for their inestimable support for this great capacity building movement in Tanzania.
