The Vodacom Tanzania Head of Communication and Marketing, Kelvin Twisa addresses journalists shortly after opening the media seminar for media owners and practitioners organized by Capital Plus International (CPI) Limited in Dar es Salaam at the weekend under the theme “Rebranding and Restoration of Media Image in Tanzania”.

VODACOM Tanzania has pledged to continue supporting various media platforms geared towards increasing media competence in Tanzania.
Speaking during a media seminar organized by Capital Plus International (CPI) Limited in Dar es Salaam at the weekend under the theme “Rebranding and Restoration of Media Image in Tanzania”, the Vodacom Tanzania Head of Communication and Marketing, Kelvin Twisa said his company recognizes the role of the media in the country’s development process Twisa however urged media houses to improve their content that will not only increase their sales but restore readers’ confidence as well.
“Vodacom Tanzania believes accurate information dissemination can be a catalyst to increasing investment throughout the country. Tanzania has many resources still unexploited.
“It is no doubt that such potential can be exploited through private sector partnership with the media. We have been one of the sponsors of today’s media seminar and we will continue to sponsor many media forums in the future,” he said.
Seasoned journalist and University of Dare s Salaam (UDSM) Journalism lecturer Dr Ayub Rioba during the seminar cautioned the media to stick to ethics urging that that would help to restore their status as the fourth estate. “The media is so vital in any democratic system. My plea to you is to stick to the journalism ethics and disseminate information without favor or bais,” he said.
The CPI PR and Events Manager, Mathew Kasonta said his company will continue organizing such platforms in the near future in a bid to increase media competence.The two day seminar that brought together over 50 media owners and over 100 media practitioners was sponsored by Vodacom, Standard Chartered Bank, National Microfinanace Bank (NMB), Precision Air and Serene Hotel Dar es Salaam.
