ADMISSION TO UNIVERSITY QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK (PREUNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES) OFFERED BY THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF ZANZIBAR FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013

1.0 Preamble

1.1 The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) invites prospective applicants to apply for University Qualifications Framework (UQF Level 6), this is equal to the former pre-entry programmes tenable at SUZA for the academic year 2012/2013. The UQF Level 6 intends to equip qualified Form Six leavers to pursue the below degree programmes upon the completion of the programme:

· Bachelor of Science with Education

· Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

· Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT)

2.0 UQF Level 6 for Bachelor of Science with Education

2.1 Entry Requirements

(i) The applicant should possess an Advanced Certificate of Secondary

Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass and one

subsidiary pass of subject combination OR two (2) subsidiary passes of

subject combination. OR

(ii) Holder of National Technical Award Level 5 and Professional Technician

Level II Certificate.

3.0 UQF Level 6 for Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/IT

3.1 Entry Requirements

(i) The applicant should possess an Advanced Certificate of Secondary

Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass and

subsidiary pass OR two (2) subsidiaries in subject of combination. For

B.Sc Computer Science applicants, one of the passes should be

Mathematics.

(ii) Holder of National Technical Award Level 5 and Professional Technician

Level II Certificate.

4.0 Mode of Application

4.1 Application forms are obtained from Monday to Friday at the Department of Academic and Quality Affairs (DAQA) Office of the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), Main Campus, Vuga Road. For Residents of Pemba, application forms are available at SUZA Office in the Building of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, near Chake Chake Hospital.

4.1 Application forms can also be accessed from the website:

http://www.suza.ac.tz , these will only be considered if attached with the

receipt for the below mentioned fees on return.

4.2 Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Tsh. 30,000/-

The payments are to be made instantly through the People’s Bank of Zanzibar

(PBZ) Limited, University’s account number 021103000490, swift code: PBZA

TZ and the original bank pay-in-slip to be submitted to the bursar’s office –

SUZA for the issuance of official receipt.

4.3 The UQF Level 6 (pre-entry-programmes) will endure for one academic year and the successful candidates will have the opportunity to join the degree programmes directly in the academic year 2013/1014.

5.0 Closing Date

5.1 The closing date for receiving application forms is Friday 29th September, 2012.

6.0 Caution

6.1 Submission of forged certificates/testimonials or any other false information is

unlawful and will be handled according to the law.
