"Dear USIU Community,
It is with deep sorrow that we regret to announce the death of Jerry Isaac Mruma, who until his death was an MBA major, the SAC Representative for Graduate students and a member of various committees in the university.
Jerry's body was found yesterday after a frantic search undertaken by the USIU Acting Head of Security, the Police and other members of the USIU Community.
The search began soon after he was reported missing to the Dean of Students. His death comes even before we as a community have come to terms with the death of Brian Frisby who passed on in a fatal car accident. The deaths of the two students come as a big blow to the USIU community and we pass our sincere condolences to their families and friends.
May God rest their souls in eternal peace."

Jerry had left the Tanzania Night at Pan Afrique Hotel and spoke to his friend Ogwellah at around 11:40PM
Another friend tells that Jerry had called her to inform her that he was on his way home. Unfortunately, he never got there. She has not heard nor seen Jerry since Saturday and calls to his phone aren't going through. She has filed a report with the Police for missing persons.

Kweli dunia haina huruma, walio fanya kitendo hiki cha kinyama wakamatwe na wachukuliwe hatua kali (nimesoma jamii forum kwamba inasemekana alinyongwa)

ReplyDeleteI met Jerry at USIU when Tanzanian students decided to hold a forum on Education, I remember him being eloquent, confident and a courageous leader among his peers. It is sad that he had to go at such a young age. He will definetely be missed by the Tanzanian community in USIU.

RIP Jerry Isaac Mruma. As a former class mate & friend, its hard to understand why you had to go this soon. You were an ambitious young rising individual who made an impact on so many lives. Many unanswered questions, so many what if's, sorrow in our hearts, tears in our eyes, hard to accept the reality of this horrifying situation. I believe u are in a better place. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. May your soul rest in eternal peace.

ReplyDeleteIts sad, coz ndani ya mwaka huu tumepoteza watanzania vijana under 30 zaid ya watatu sasa kwa kuddhukumiwa maisha yao wakiwa nchi jirani ya wenzetu wakenya, mbaya zaidi ni vijana walionyesha kufanikiwa, kweli kifo cha Jerry kimenisikitisha sana, he was such a briliant guy, Je serikali ya Tz na kenya wansemaje? huyu ni Mtz wa tatu kwa kumbukumbu zangu ndani ya mwaka huu kuuliwa akiwa kenya, je hii haileti picha flani mbaya? hw many Kenyans are here in TZ wanaenjoy ukariu wetu?

ReplyDeleteOn 17 Sunday morning around 8 a.m, I find a crownd of people with the police between the Uhuru roundabout and Serena, a light guy, with bruises on the forehead and neck lay dead in a pool of blood; mugged and had no shoes. A shedule of events, keys and a broken screw driver lay there. He was mugged and killed. So sorry to the family and friends.
