Prof. Jumanne Maghembe has opened a dissemination workshop on NELSAP projects’ output in Dar es Salaam

Minister for Water, Prof. Jumanne Maghembe has opened Nile equatorial lakes subsidiary action program (NELSAP) a dissemination workshop on NELSAP projects’ output in Dar es Salaam today.

The two day workshop aim at enhancing awareness among the basin policy level stakeholders on the activities of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) and the role of the NELSAP in contributing towards poverty reduction, reversal of environmental degradation and stimulation of economic growth in creating awareness on regional planning tools that have been developed by the NELSAP with special focus the Multi-Sector Investment Opportunities Analysis (MSIOA).

Another objective of the workshop is to promote the added value of NBI/NELSAP Cooperation in bringing to the fore the regional/international profile and niche that NELSAP offers in as far as water resources management and development, fostering information sharing and collaborative interaction between the NBI/NELSAP and its stakeholders including regional agencies and development partners and promoting and strengthening stakeholder involvement and regional cooperation within NEL sub-basins so as discuss with the countries the need to take on board NELSAP prepared investment projects through country programming and to discuss, with the countries, the status of NELSAP Financial Sustainability Strategy and Plan moving forward.
