EAST AFRICAN NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS OPENS IN DAR ES SALAAM

Dar es Salaam March 22-The Deputy Minister Ministry of East African Cooperation Dr. Juma Abdulla Juma Abdulla Saadala today officially opened East African Netball Competitions in Dar es Salaam.
Addressing Netball Athletes from East African Countries the Deputy Minister pointed out that these competitions marks our long good relationship that has existed before the first defunct community of 1977 stressing that since the beginning of the competitions both defunct and the new community has enjoyed sports cooperation.
Quoting article 19 of the Treaty for the establishment of the East African Community the jovial Minister said that it requires Partner States to strengthen and harmonize cultural and sports relationship and that is what we are implementing today.
He said the Competitions intend to strengthen the integration by bringing on board unit among East Africans, desire to win competitions, maintain health and the ability to win competitions and to develop friendship among athletes of East Africa.
The East African Netball Association and Kenya Netball Association Secretary Lilian Anup has urged referees to officiate games according to the rules of the game maintaining that failure to adhere on rules may lead to punitive measures against them.
She said that Tanzania has been missing in East African Netball Competitions for unknown reasons and failed to hide how glad she was after Tanzania returned adding that the lost glory is finally retained. He thanked Tanzania Netball Association Chairman Anna Kabila for succeeding the mission. Tanzania has been missing in the competition since the year 2006.
She called for sponsors to join the Netball game to stop it from its demise adding that Uganda Netball female competitions are recording good status due to the sponsorship they enjoy calling them the best in East Africa.
