CLARIFICATION ON 2014 CECAFA CHALLENGE CUP EDITION

The New Vision [Uganda] of this Friday November 28, 2014 has run a news story on Page 49 titled ‘CECAFA SHOW OFF’ under which the author indicated that this year’s CECAFA edition won’t take place.

As much as the author doesn’t clearly indicate the source of his information for the alleged call-off of the regional event, he somewhere claims to have spoken to me yesterday [Thursday] which never happened.

I therefore wish to clarify as follows:

1.    It’s true, this year’s CECAFA challenge Cup had been scheduled for Ethiopia but the intended Member Association later showed inability to host the event.

2.    The CECAFA Executive Committee headed by Eng. Leodgar Tenga and the Secretary General Mr. Nicholas Musonye are still working out the possible measures to ensure that a late championship is at least organized.

3.    CECAFA will later officially communicate its position on this matter.

4.    CECAFA therefore wishes to ask all journalists and Media Houses to consult the relevant authorities before running personal opinions attributed to CECAFA officials.
