Ugandan born and with Rwandan
parentage, Kleyah is a songwriter and recording artist destined for
great heights after her debut single My Lover’s Eyes, released 20th
July 2015, caught the attention of many a
music pundit in her current country of residence, Tanzania. Kleyah,
whose real name is Claire Pamela Kamahoro, grew up listening to the likes of Luther
Vandross, Brandy, Whitney Houston and Celine Deon, and her dream to become a
singer was born. In her pursuit of educational excellence, her dreams took a
backseat for a while but remained alive for when the time was right to execute
her plan. After a spell with the United
Nations WFP in Uganda in 2014, she went on to work as Communication Consultant
for UNDP in Tanzania, where she was assigned as publicist to visiting, former
New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark on wildlife conservation.
In
a bid to hone her craft, Kleyah received voice lessons from celebrated
Tanzanian vocal coach, Joett; and worked with pianist Luigi Tamburi and
musician Mzungu kichaa to craft her first two self-penned songs, post
production of which was done at Butterfly Studio in Namibia, with the help of Kenyan
producer Lucas Bikedo of famed video production outfit Ogopa DJ. Setting her
eyes on being unique, Kleyah’s story of passion for music, yet never losing
sight of getting a good foundation in education, is set to inspire others in
more ways than one right across the African Diaspora.
