The Secretary-General congratulates the people, Government and political parties of Tanzania for the peaceful and orderly manner in which the country held its elections on 25 October 2015.
The responsible conduct of the citizens of Tanzania as they cast their ballots and awaited the results was a concrete manifestation of their commitment to democracy, peace and stability.
The Secretary-General remains concerned about the situation in Zanzibar and underscores that any disputes related to the electoral process should be addressed through the existing legal framework in a peaceful and transparent manner.
The Secretary-General calls on all stakeholders to remain calm, reject the use of violence, and avoid making statements that could further increase tensions.

ReplyDeleteDuring times of peace, they say dont interfere with their freedom to decide what is good for them. When the decision is bad, it ruins peace, it is up to UN, UK, US, and their sisters to shelter refugees.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion, encroach their freedom to prevent them from making bad decisions or continue to pay for their mistakes.
The silence of the president of United Republic of Tanzania can simply mean ......as Zanzibar is under the President of Republic of Tz thus we expected to hear the advice from what he observed the whole process of election from the beginning.
