The Government has set aside 6.7 for improving teaching
and learning environment at the Dar es Salaam based National Institute of
Transport (NIT)
Addressing journalists in Dar es Salaam over the weekend,
NIT Rector, Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa said that the money was allocated in the 2017/18 fiscal year budget and will transform the teaching and enabling
environment of the institute, hence make it it produce competent experts who can
be able to compete in the competitive labour market.
Prof. Mganilwa said NIT was determined to produce expert
who meet the current national market demands, particularly at this time when
the country is involving in the construction of Hoima-Tanga crude oil pipeline
as well as expansion of country’s ports and other social activities.
It is fully accredited with the National Council for
Technical Education (NACTE) and provide Competence Based Education and Training
(CBET) programmes at the level of Certificate, Diploma and Degree (National
Technical Awards – NTA level 4 to level 8). The system gives a student the
capacity to ably compete in the labour market.
Prof. Mganilwa said the Institute offers different
courses ranging from logistic and transport management, freight clearing and
forwarding, aviation studies, procurement and logistics management, automobile
engineering, business administration, computing information and communication
technology, mechanical engineering, accounting and finance, marketing and
public relations and human resources management
