During the course of the past 20 years, the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania (CEOrt) has had a broad and diverse history towards contributing to Tanzania’s socio-economic growth and development. Founded at a time when the country was still navigating the transition from a socialist to a market-led economy, the founders of the organisation aimed to encourage dialogue between the Public and Private sectors in order to facilitate positive outcomes pertaining to the country’s long-term growth trajectory.
In recent years and as part of its Thought Leadership agenda, the Board and Members of the organisation recognized an opportunity to more meaningfully contribute to the nation’s development, navigating challenges as opportunities and thus adopting a solutions oriented outlook. This approach has led to the organisation spearheading important initiatives namely:
The CEO Apprenticeship Programme (CAP), which aims to support the country’s sustainable growth through the enhancement of leadership capacity both within the Public and Private Sectors. Recognizing the need to adjust, adapt and thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing global dynamic, CAP continues to make strides in grooming senior executives and creating visionary leaders ready to take on CEO positions in the future.
In under three (3) years, this unique leadership programme has borne witness to 30% of Cohort 1 and 15% of Cohort 2 graduates being appointed to lead multi-national organisations. This capacity building initiative is transforming the local leadership landscape and playing a significant role in ensuring organisational sustainability for the country’s long-term development.
The Climate Action Agenda, which recognizes the critical role of business leaders in driving responsible climate action through the adoption of investments that accelerate decarbonization and investing in sustainable solutions as aligned with the President, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to deliver a 30% reduction of carbon emissions by the year 2030.
Furthermore, anchored within the ethos of “Ethical Leadership for Growth and Prosperity”, the CEO Roundtable continues to advocate for enhanced trust between the Government and the Private Sector, recognizing the critical role of Private Sector leaders in adopting responsible business practices within their organisations for increased transparency and accountability to further this important agenda.
This morning, the CEO Roundtable will host its Board of Directors and members of the media to formally introduce the organisation’s revamped brand identity that encompasses a strong commitment to sustainable development. This new brand is a reflection of the CEOrt's relentless pursuit to innovation, collaboration and continuous growth for the country’s sustained development.
