Tanga Monday September 11 2023 – In a significant boost to women entrepreneurs in Tanga, 487 food vendors received essential business support from Cola Kwanza Ltd, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), in partnership with Oryx Gas Tanzania, and the Institute of Social Work (ISW). This initiative forms part of the Mwanamke Shujaa campaign, meaning "A Brave Woman".

The women entrepreneurs were gifted cooking equipment, clothing items, and also participated in workshops aimed at enhancing their business and entrepreneurial skills. Training focused on essential areas like bookkeeping, customer care, stress management, and capital growth. The handover ceremony took place at the Usagara Secondary School over the weekend, in the esteemed presence of Hon. Ummy Mwalimu, Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Tanga Constituency.

Each woman received a 15kg gas cylinder, a two-plate gas cooker, an apron, a cooking table, and a crate of soda. This effort has increased the beneficiaries of the Mwanamke Shujaa campaign to 843 this year, reflecting a strong commitment by Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd to empower women economically.

Hon. Ummy Mwalimu expressed her gratitude towards Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd and Oryx Gas Tanzania for providing this timely support, which will not only improve food vendor operations but also align with the government's agenda of promoting clean energy use.

Salum Nassor, Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability director at Coca-Cola Kwanza, reaffirmed the company's commitment to creating greater shared opportunities for the business and the communities they serve. He emphasized that the company's growth strategy is centered on creating inclusive growth opportunities for communities, women, youth, and people with disabilities.

Mr. Shaban Fundi, the Oryx Gas Head of Retail Sales, expressed his company's commitment to collaborate with Coca-Cola Kwanza Ltd on this noble cause. He underscored Oryx Gas's mission to support enterprises and society in boosting the economy, increasing the usage of gas in the country, and preserving the environment.
