Tusker Project Fame, East Africa’s first ever locally produced reality television show, has been described as a marriage between voyeuristic Big Brother and musical phenomenon Idols, with a thrilling dose of survivor-style voting.

The program seeks to discover raw, untapped musical talent in East Africa that can be groomed to stardom, through a series of regional auditions.

The chosen contestants are then enrolled into the Tusker Academy where they are given expert training in every aspect of the music business - from performance and song writing to behind-the-scenes preparation and a personal advisor.

More than just a talent competition, Tusker Project Fame allows viewers a unique opportunity to follow, day by day, the behind the scenes progress of the chosen contestants as they are groomed for success. Public voting by sms determines which contestants are eliminated on a weekly basis, with the lucky winner walking away with cash prizes and a recording contract from Gallo records of South Africa at the end of the show.

Tune in to the daily weekday shows from 8:30 pm – 9:00 pm East African time and 10:00 pm – 10:30 pm Rwanda time on the following TV stations in the respective countries.

Catch the live shows every Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 7:30 pm East African time. The weekend shows air at 10:00 pm Rwanda time.

SMS VOTING DETAILS
On Sunday each week the judges put four students who have not made the grade on probation. On Saturday the following week out of these four on probation:
The TV audience 'saves' one contestant through SMS voting.
The teachers vote to save one pupil they feel has the most potential.
Of the two remaining nominees the rest of the students who are not on probation give their votes to save one pupil and the one who wins continues trainning in the Fame Academy.

Viewers will be voting to save or to keep their favourite contestant in the academy. To Vote SMS the word “Tusker” and the contestant’s Number (allocated numbers in the table below e.g. 1, 2, 3) to the country specific short RwandaVoting opens at the end of every Sunday Performance Show at approximately 9:00pm East African Time (8:00pm Central Africa Time) and closes on Friday the following week at midnight 00.00pm East African Time and 23:00pm Central Africa Time for all shows leading up to 10 October 2009.

For the finals voting will conclude on Saturday 10 October 2009 at midnight 00:00pm East African Time and 23:00pm Central Africa Time. The winner will be announced during the Sunday 11 October 2009 grand finale show.
