WATER AND SANITATION -PERSPECIVES AND CHALLANGES RELATING TO ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE

The environmental challenges are tightly linked. None of them can be dealt
with separately, since there are only global solutions, which are now to be considered at world scale and taking into account the different planetary stakes.
Water and energy resources, as well as their access to all inhabitants of the globe, must be envisaged and used in the perspective of climatic challenges.

That was the massage of the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, at the 5th International Africa water and sanitation congress being held at Speke commonwealth Resort -Munyonyo in Kampala from the 15th-19th march 2010.

The president went on to say that ‘ As you may be aware , we on the political front are fostering for the economic intergration of the African States .Therefore, the African water collaborative initiatives you are undertaking provide a very good foundation and platform towards achieving this noble cause’

The delegate list included Prince Charles, Prof Wangari Maathai (2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner), Dr. Anna Tibaijuka - Executive Director UN Habitant and other prominent figures
