Africa Anzen Foundation (AAF) (Anzen means safety in Japanese), a local NGO established by a team of concerned Tanzanian and Japanese people, in collaboration with the Tanzania Traffic Police Force and the Embassy of Japan, on Monday launched the Anzen Unten campaign (which means safe driving in Japanese), with the purpose of raising awareness of Traffic Safety in Tanzania.

The inauguration ceremony for the Anzen Unten campaign was held at Serena hotel on 09 September, in the presence of Mr. Augustine Shio, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Mpinga, Deputy Commissioner of Police and H. E. Mr. Masaki Okada, Ambassador of Japan.

During the ceremony an original campaign song, Anzen Unten (‘Endesha kwa Uangalifu’), was performed by Barnaba, Recho and Tony, who is a Japanese volunteer based in Tanzania, dispatched by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In addition, the ceremony was the world premiere of the Anzen Unten Movie, directed by the internationally recognized film director, Mr. Ben Suzuki. Mr Suzuki personally introduced the movie on the occasion.

On 10 September, Mr. Suzuki and the Tanzanian Traffic Police Force held road safety workshops at Kigogo Primary School and Mkwawa Primary School, using the Anzen Unten song and movie. Both the movie and song will be utilized for road safety education nationwide and as part of the National Road Safety Campaign of the Tanzanian Traffic Police Force.
