A GIANT LEAP FOR ZANZIBAR ASSOCIATION OF TOURISM INVESTORS (ZATI)

The Zanzibar Deputy Minister for Information, Culture and Sports, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, this month inaugurated a website http://www.zati.org/ at the Zanzibar Serena Inn aimed at promoting Zanzibar and also serve as a link for ZATI members.

ZATI, registered in Zanzibar, is a non-governmental, non-religious and non-political organization which stands for the unification and interests of tourism investors as well as locally owned and foreign investments on the isles.

Further to that, ZATI works closely with relevant government institutions to ensure a sustainable and professional tourism industry of the highest standard.

The majority of the foreign investments on the island are ZATI members. They include the newly opened Fumba Beach Resort, Zamani Kempinski, La Gemma ( Renco ), Ras Nungwi, Karafuu, Bluebay Beach Resort and Zanzibar Travel Services.

According to the Chairman of ZATI, Mr Simai Mohammed Said, the website would serve as promotional tool for Zanzibar due to the fact that a special page has been set up with the aim of promoting the unique culture and history of Zanzibar.

Said also said that another page aimed at promoting events and news which will be updated accordingly has also been developed. The events will include Sauti Za Busara Music Festival 2007, Zanzibar International Film Festival, Mwakakogwa, Charity Events, Concerts, Special Occassions of ZATI members and current events.
