APHRC Sexuality Journalism Award Announcement
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) announces a new award for excellent print media reporting in the area of Sexuality. The award emerges from the premise that sexuality issues in Africa are often under-prioritised and, therefore, superficially investigated by the mainstream media. The award is aimed at fostering informed coverage of sexuality issues in the East African print media, and at recognizing the value of such endeavours for the benefit of East Africa ’s socio-economic and development challenges.
The Award provides the equivalent of Ksh. 50,000 to honor an individual print journalist in Kenya , Tanzania , and Uganda , respectively, whose work will promote the public’s understanding of sexuality and its linkages to socio-economic and development concerns in the region. Funding for this award has been provided by the Ford Foundation.
