Mzee,

Shukrani.
Leadership is a simple thing to describe, but a very complex one to practice! Tanzanian leaders just like other counties' leaders are facing the same complexity of the reality of leadership process.
Once, in his campaigning speeches, the late Mwalimu JK Nyerere (and if I remember precisely, will be a speech he gave at Mbeya stadium when he was marketing Mr Mkapa in 1995), he said Tanzanians should strive to elect a leader who can stand on his own and never listen to those around him.
Elaborating more, he said, Tanzania needs a leader who can say NO to evil acts. And what he meant was, when it comes to using his leadership in things like, corruption, injustice, inhumanity, theft, and the like, he should be able to say NO even if he is advised by his/her parents, wife or husband, close friends, colleagues or his/her inner voices.

This statement, in its simplicity proves how intricate the leadership process can be. Leaders who focus on accumulating material wealth in most cases end up falling into embranglement of corruption and injustices, not doing enough to help their own people and therefore end up losing their face to their own people.
The world has seen the worst and best leaders from different corners of the world in the past and is still seeing this fact even as we speak now.
Almost all of the worst leaders were and or are associated with the behaviour of being selfish, wealth worshippers, greedy, unjust and above all not knowing what it means by life. Most of them ended up dying leaving their people behind celebrating their departure (It can't be death because they don't need them anyway). Despite their accumulated wealth, some of their families end up living in exile because of the wrong doings of these leaders, for instance the Late Mobutu Seseseko of Zaire ended up in shame, and we have many more other examples.

On the other side, most of the best leaders were and or are after looking after their own people, having enough but not too much of wealth, perpetuators of justice, empathetic to their own people and mindful of their life ahead of them. Many of these, on their death, left and or will leave their people behind grieving an endless grief, and in some cases memorial monuments have been and or will be built to honour them. There are many examples here and some of them are more evident that I can mention, so I will leave this open for people to give their own examples.

JK, we know what you are facing, we know all about the above, we know that the country has had, and still has, many leaders benefiting from its corruptive political and administrative as well as judicial network. A network that is more complicated that a normal person can comprehend or even untangle. A network that no one else could or can break except a dedicated top leader who has been given position to exercise his power, but only his/her wisdom will make him/her use it in the way that helps his/her people.
Only a leader who can say no to injustice, corruption and other inhuman acts proposed by his/her closest can break the corruptive chain. Everyone knows the danger of fighting blood suckers, so we know what you are facing.
But at the same time, everyone appreciates the courage, and supports in one way or another (prayers, demonstration, etc) the good efforts being put forward. And most of us believe it is not done for show off so you can be re-elected and therefore get your last piece of cake You can make this country a new country and true representative of African values, one of its kind in Africa. And you can make your own history that will never be forgotten and respected by your own people and the entire world for centuries.

And I don't mean you should make yourself another Nyerere, but you can make your country better by correcting what he did not accomplish. Bear in mind he admitted some of issues were beyond his capability and he did not have enough resources. You have many open minded people, very well exposed and dedicated to use their efforts to build a new Tanzania, use them by laying your own rules and policies and you should walk your say.
I am sure you know that money can not make someone more respectful, at least I have never seen that unless it is associated with taking care of your own people. Being a president means 'problem solved' financially, so what more will be gaining by starving your own people, making their life unbearable and full of disasters? I have every confidence that you can make a difference and that you can set precedence even for the future leaders.

Tanzania can be richer than it is now if our leaders turn their back against their corruptive mindset and start working to build the nation that every Tanzanian will be proud of wherever they are. At the end of the day all Tanzanian has a share in that country, whether living overseas or not. The water problems, power, transportation and food crisis will be a history if you manage these single minded leaders.

People who are outside Tanzania know how rich the country is, and how we can capitalise on what we have. But it is only when we have a stable and focused country that we can easily convince the rest of the world to invest, and or visit Tanzania for our own betterment.

There are so many things that I can talk about how we can make this country successful, but it is only when our leaders show a way and prepare the foundation for the rest of us to exploit the opportunities available, that something can be done.

I trust in the direction you are taking, and I know there are many more filthy things that have been done in the past, and which involved top leaders, if you let your cabinet do the job and the judicial system to act in the best interest of the country, the impact of the changes will be great to the normal people, and the success of the country will be an obvious thing.
Change the mindset of the Tanzanian leaders, this is your only chance, and I am sure you can do it, because it is only you who can do it now that you have that power and it needs only your wisdom to know that all Tanzanians, the sick and the healthy, the dead and the alive ones, look upon you for the future of their country and their children. Restore their life, for many of us life was coming to an end, where the only hope was to struggle on your own but not as a country.
May Allah be with you

Kuna Maoni 26 mpaka sasa

  3. Can someone mention what accomplisments did JK archive during this shamble moment? I get very devastated when i heard many people give JK a sholder pet because of the on going mess in Tanzania.

In my memory i do remember that, the first litimus taste for JK was "who will be his PM", and withouth any futher taste the litimus paper turn red, because he choosed EL to be his PM. People were talking loud about this guy, but MR president intational act like we' were the noise maker.

So, my friend from Austarial, why didn't you quote what Mwalim said about Lowassa back in 1994? JK needs a lot to prove before we even tell him good job. Remember, we diserv more than Lowasa to resign, we don't know what caused the IPTL, BoT, Air Tanzania mess, Buzwagi illusion contracts, kiwira mining nonsense, Tanzania airforce one nightmare, and many other corruption alligations.

There is no point of even say good job to anyone if, Jitu Patel is still runing loose, Rostam Aziz still enjoy gigantic return from our assets, we don't need to say good job if Balali scandal is still nightmare, we don't need to say good job if still no one is under investigations due to Richmond theft. we surely don't want to say good job while many Tanzania can't afford two meals a day, and on the other hand five or six people are making 152 Million a day. We don't want to say good job while majority of Tanzania children are stranded after finish standard seven.

I get so angry, when i see few educated Tanzania from each side of the global pup on and say good job to someone who didn't do anything that diserv our thanks. I get worried because i believed people are doing this due to either political gain or popularity implications. While majority of Tanzanian are suffer with 40% rises of electricity price, escalanding inflation with double digit, 0% rule of law, few are enjoying our natural resources.

There is no freedom, if few people can afford the fruits of freedom. So, next please bring more factual opions. Mdau wa US

  4. Michuzi inaonekana kuna wadau wanadhani wakiishi Ulaya au Marekani basi automatically wanakuwa wamekimudu vyema kiingereza. Ama wanaamini kwa kuandika kiingereza wanawakoga wale walio huko nyumbani. Sasa hicho hapo juu kiingereza gani kama si aibu tupu? Washauri tu waandike kiswahili. Madau Kanada

  7. Uzuri kila mtu ana mdomo wa kusemea so I will leave that to the mass to judge whoever is just there to criticise!
First of all Wakusota, you don't what you are talking about, so I will forgive you and your next generations. As for the others, kuandika kiingereza na kusoma kiingereza ni maamuzi ya mtu anayetaka kufanya hivyo. The blog has not stipulated what language to use, unfortunately.
Na zaidi, I am insisting on the way forward, not the past.

If you were given the country, what strategies will you take, ni rahisi kufikiria ni kazi ya kufukuza mtu tu. I don't belive it is that easy, after all it needs courage, kitu ambacho wengi wetu hatuna pamoja na uzuri wa kuandika maneno mazuri humu kama maua.

  21. I would like to candidly disapprove of your argument Mr. Ngallah in regards to leadership which I do believe to be inherent gift within a human being from the beginning of time history ever recorded
Your argument is more of less of theoretical and philosophical than practical, and the only way Africa and Tanzania can reverse the course of the plight of corruption is through educating the public on dangers of selling their votes, rights and future of their children for one cup of tea to men ready to sell their country’s wealth to foreigners.
Tanzania, is a very rich country, it is by far richer than Israel in natural resources, yet Israeli’s are far ahead of us because their people know what to expect from their leaders. While in Tanzania a leader from day one in the office knows that if he does not become a millionaire then he is not a leader, and I thought you would have argued in this manner, rather than expecting a magical number
Lowassa, Kramagi and Msabaha sold their motherland to foreigners who were ripping their country apart. America does not need money from Tanzania, Teachers at the University of Dar es salaam need the money so that they can prepare best students who could push the economic wheel. Muhimbili hospital needs medicine and equipment so that our nation can be healthy
A true leader does not have to bribe in order to get a leadership role; a True leader will lead with example and be ready to sacrifice him or herself for the good of his country. A public position is not a blank check for these Hooligans of Lowasa’s like to use as their gateway to riches
We must not rely on leaders to make the country better. Shaping the country depends on you, you must desist from bribing to get your natural and rights. You must vote wisely, and not sell your right to a crook like Karamagi. You must be neutral politically and vote based on individuals track record and policies rather political affiliation.
The only way you can change the mindset of these leaders is by voting them out rather than giving them a chance to rob public coffers. And to counter your argument logically, let me draw analogy of giving a Hard-core robber a chance to guard bank with hopes of him changing his mind to become a good guardian...............
Mr. Kikwete is a clean leader, he needs people who can help deliver his promises to the populace, he does not need Vihiyo, and the Karamagi’s. But if you keep on sending these crooks what else can he do? Choose the least rotten among the rotten ones.
He is a human being, he simply can’t do it on his own, he needs help. You must help him by not bribing Judges and then blame the Judiciary. Help him by practicing your civic responsibilities of VOTING wisely .in that way; he will get TRUE leaders to choose from, not the recycled Lowassa’s time after time.
In shaping of a country, nothing is more powerful than the power of a ballot.
    Regards
