Mithupu hajakosea.
Sawa sawa anonymous... mara nyingi hapa nyumbani Wasanifu Majengo huitwa Mainjinia, ambapo ni makosa.
ReplyDeleteOver 200 middle class entrepreneurs who took part in the Sullivan Trade exhibitions at the Nane Nane grounds at Themi have complained of being abandoned and neglected by the government for its failure to mobilise Summit delegates to visit the fair grounds.
ReplyDeleteThey expressed their disappointment to the Ngorongoro Member of Parliament Sening`o ole Telele who visited the fair ground to assess how the Sullivan Summit has impacted on the middle class business entrepreneurs.
They complained that neither the Summit delegates, nor the local Arusha officials had visited the fair grounds since they set up on May 28, saying that not a single person had visited the exhibitions which were mainly targetted at the Summit delegates from the US.
`No one has visited our exhibitions because our government and the organisers of the summit did not mobilise the delegates to visit us,`` they said, adding: ``some of us are staying in guest houses and now we have run out of cashin fact some of us have already been evicted for not paying the rent most of us have exhausted our funds?,`` one of the exhibitors said.
The entrepreneurs said they suspected sabotage by the summit organisers for ignoring them because they failed to understand why the organisers could take the delegates to a huge shop selling wood carvings but could not take them to the exhibition grounds nearby.
One business lady who identified herself as Annastazia John from Mara Region said that some of them had borrowed money in order to buy items for the exhibilition, hoping that they could sell the same during and after the exhibition, but now their hopes have been shattered.
``We now have no fare to take us home, we can not even take regular meals and we do not know how we are going to pay back our loans.
They suggested that the government should refund their transport, boarding and lodging expenses including the money they used in hiring the exhibition pavilions, because they incurred huge losses in setting up the exhibition.
Another business lady from Zanzibar, Mariam Suleiman, said some government officials and organisers of the Summit had visited them in Zanzibar and urged them to take part in the exhibition, telling them to take with them many items because there would be a large market, but she was surprised that not a single delegate visited them.
In another development, food vendors, otherwise known as `mama lishe` had been throwing away their food because of lack of customers.
The Themi exhibitions had been organised by the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (TCCIA), Small Industries Organisation (SIDO) and Tanzania Agricultural Sector Organisation (TASO)
TCCIA chairman, James Kangalu, said the entrepreneurs had paid between 100,000/- and 150,000/- and some Kenyans had paid USD4,000 at the AICC who were accommodated at Themi after missing space at the AICC.
TASO Chairman Samwel Urassa said they were making arrangements to see President Kikwete to find solution to the problem.

we annon wa June 07, 2008 2:47 AM, kwa ufupi ndio unapotosha! University of Dar es Salaam wanatoa bachelor, masters za Engineering, University of Ardhi(UCLAS) wanatoa bachelor, masters za Architecture, nafikiri mpaka hapo unaweza kutofautisha kwamba Engineers are not Architects.
