Teaching music to children and youth is one of the main tasks of DCMA. At the moment DCMA provides music lessons at several private nursery and primary school, and conducts educational concerts at government schools.
In the future DCMA plans to work also closer with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to reach more children and youth. A first step in this direction is a one-day-workshop with youth from Youth Challenge International (YCI) a Canadian NGO working with vulnerable children and youth. Hopefully, this drumming and traditional dance workshop will be the first in a string of joint activities.
YCI is a partner organization of the Zanzibar NGO Cluster (ZANGOC) located in Mwanakwerekwe, where the workshop will take place.
