Honorable Guests, Journalists, Fellow fashion designers, ladies and gentlemen,
Thank you for giving us your precious time in celebration of Tanzania’s creativity, its artistes and diversity.
Today, In commemoration of our second year of existence, we are celebrating fashion as an Essence and Creative Fashion Designing as a successful conduit/platform for social development.
Although still an infant in many ways, Tanzania Mitindo House has made commendable achievements through dedication and hard work …but mostly our success has been because of individuals’ contributions and corporate philanthropy yours.
You have in one way or another enriched the lives of our special children; vulnerable children that need the most care and love to have a chance in living a full life, With hopes of achieving dreams and ambitions that would otherwise be impossible to attain had you not shown that you care, that our children matter, and their future is important to us all as a nation.
Your participation in this remarkable event is greatly appreciated and together as a team we have made the following giant steps:
All the 30 HIV/AIDS orphans in our care since the inception of TMH are flourishing in good health, attending school with good attendance records and good grades….. This means they have developed bigger dreams and enjoy being our children!
I am proud to mention that TMH secured a big beautiful plot of land Square Mentres 8000 at Gezaulole Kigamboni generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. AL SAID of Dar es Salaam, who are also our guests of honor today.
Even more proud to say that construction of a modern TMH orphanage is ongoing – by the special care of Vodacom Foundation. This means we should celebrate all our future anniversaries in our home, thanks to Vodacom Foundation!
Towards self sustainability of the TMH venture, we have brought to life a Fun center project – please find details, Flier and more information on our website (www.mitindohouse.org) and in the Brochure on your tables.
TMH, true to our vision and mission, realize that we have to be economically sustainable in order to give committed service to our children. Creativity being the keystone of our existence, we are establishing a TMH Fun Center - It will be the first of its kind in Dar es Salaam and will seek to provide an excellent child friendly environment where all visiting children will enjoy a stimulating, educative, and safe environment.
We believe every child has a right to play and the centre will be very inclusive, catering also for children with disabilities.
The Fun center shall be constructed on our plot in Kigamboni.
Plans for the Fun centre have now been completed and will also house the following:
Theatre for dramas and Cinema
Large play space with swings/slides and other outdoor play equipment
Library and Sandy play ground
Children’s Museum and Art Studio
Toys and Games room

The Fun Center shall be an economic venture that will offer free service to all orphans regardless of status or housing (meaning….even if they do not belong to TMH orphanage – they are entitled to our facility without fees of any sort. Most orphanages – HIV/AIDS or otherwise in Tanzania do not offer enough play space for the children they house).
Other customers desire to utilize the center will pay a nominal fee for any activity such as hosting children’s parties, special holiday events, merchandising, restaurant facilities, performances and training facilities for pre school teachers.
We would like for corporate companies to consider sponsoring the FUN CENTRE to help us realize this unique project.
