The East African Customs Union Debate
Dear Fellow Tanzanians (Tanganyikans and Zanzibaris) lets be patriotic!
What Mashaka was cogently pointing out, was to open our eyes on issues that affect all of us and our next generations. What he raised is not new (as most have said, he also knows that): any patriotic Tanganyikan would know this; It was in fact raised by Prof. Wangwe's Commission on East African Federation Fast Tracking..., sometime last year or so (remember the infamous Wako's Fast Tracking ambition)- am afraid Wako still features in this new move of the custom union (c.f recent ministers verdict on the customs union).
The President affirmed to what the Wangwe's Commission found from the Tangayikans, and it is what in a nutshell Mashaka is pointing out. I want to believe that our current leaders are not Ostrich to bury their heads in the sand, and be oblivious of the outcome of what they staunchly opposed (the Wako Report on Custom's Union esp. Land, free movement of people, right of establishment etc) they like any sane person, smelled the rat in Wako's Report....This is recorded in the Hansard for it was debated in the august house in Dodoma. And this called for the Presidential Wangwe's Commission.
I want to believe that our very current leaders (hey, not all are corrupt -let’s not stereotype) would not allow this draconian clauses to feature in the Customs Union Charter (it’s unthinkable to think they will).
I want to believe that the President would not be ill-advised (mislead) by his advisors or himself not being keen to know what he is asserting too (if it’s going to sales out his people, this includes his own son propagated by the (with due respect)infamous imbecile Joseph full of critics that make him sound Kenyan than a patriotic Tanganyikan. Who wants monarchs in Tanganyika (this by the way it’s another subject that we may need to discuss-cause can’t you see the political system is tainted with names of names already?-time bomb in the making ).
We all know that Tanganyika can’t live in isolation; it has been well put by others who contributed on the benefit of economic integration, I won’t venture on that. Mine is to humbly plead to you all (Tanganyikans and Zanzibaris of cause; reading this blog) to be more objective than subjective. It's not about the language prose or syntax that matters, rather it’s on the issues raised or what you can rise that is beneficial to our mother land.
I don't see anything wrong of one having ambitions (if Mashaka wants to aspire for the coveted post, so be it) he shows how resolute an individual he is, you to need to be like him and stop the personality fights that won't do any good to us-but just expose how uncouth some critic minds can be.
From my readings of Mashaka's articles, he sounds an individual who loves his country and all he wants is to raise pertinent issues. Honestly if one raises such issues do we now label him/her a politician? This is a problem of shallow thinking, it’s not the domain of politicians only to speak for us, we too have a mind, ears and eyes to know whats happening and we have the right to speak out or views (does not our Katiba provide this? don’t we have this privilege offered by Uncle Michuzi? so why attack someone and not the issues he raises? Be objective please.
Fellow Tanganyikan's lets be objective, we may not be the ones to suffer today but think of your young ones (kids or relatives-next generations) what legacy are we leaving for them? If you are privileged (I bet you are for not all Tanganyikans are able to have access to internet let alone most can’t read or write even in kiswahili (you must have watched the Maisha Plus auditions to know what am saying I felt so embarrassed when they went to places like Mtwara).....You are blessed to be able to have access to this medium) so let’s not be so subjective and miss the mark (unless if one is not patriotic or not one of us like those who want us to focus on Mashaka as a person and not on what he raised for us to ponder!
I am not afraid of being criticised for supporting what Mashaka and all others herein have said regarding Tanganyika's/Tanzania's disadvantaged position in the Custom's Union, let them critics come, but I warn you, be objective in your criticism for the benefit of us and the generations to come. Least you display your blinkered mind!
Long live all those who support sanity and integrity in Tanzania. Uncle Michuzi, Aluta continua for running this blog. I know I may have written a long comment. But am pissed off by bigoted minds who do not want to read between the lines of important messages. Yet such claim to be world class... God knows what!
Lastly, ndugu zangu kingereza ni lugha kama nyingine kwa ajili ya mawsiliano, sijaona mtu yeyote humu ndani kwamba anababikia hii lugha (save for Joseph-who is paranoid) watu wanachofagilia ni maada zinazotolewa au kuanzishwa na Mashaka (ambaye simfahamu).
Mashaka na wengine endeleeni kuleta Maada zinazo amsha aari za kiuzalendo; embu watazameni mataifa yalio na wazalendo (real patriots) Isreal, Marekani, Iran, Korea Kaskazini, China, na hata Kenya (msinisulubishe nina point hapa-Kenya wanasukuma hii East Africa Agenda kwa manufa yao (wote hamtabisha-so what? ili maslai ya taifa lao yaeendele sawa? sas huu ndio uzalendo haswa, nasisis tukiupinga au pinga vipengele fulani fulani nasi tunakuwa WAZALENDO, simple.
Note: Kenyans, Ugandans Rwandese, Burundians wote kuna ukabila na mapigano ya hapa na pale but when it comes to EAC mmh wote lao moja!!! hatushangai? Sasa Mahaka na watu kama yeye (wanao onyesha uzalendo wanamakosa gani?
Sisi wa Tanganyika je? mmmh nisaideni hapo- juzi juzi tu wazanzibari wamesema kato natural gas na mafuta ni yao siyo ya muungano!!!! Tanganyika mpo? Kimya - PM alipo sema wao ni mkoa do you know what happened?
Let me end here....will post more to provoke patriotism feelings may be it will elevate our lost patriotic souls and rescue the sinking Tanganyika (what a lovely name-wish we could revive it and in it, rebirth the spirit of patriotism)....the ball is on your court.

ReplyDeleteTo you a concerned citizen of tanganyika, i have read all your article but unfortunately all i see more of the same, you went back and forth repeating yourself about mashaka about million times please understand that i'm not here to judge your education nor your integrity but i'm afraid to say that you are maniac when it comes to details.You apparently failed yourself to be understood what real is your story all about, is it perhaps because of anger management problem.One can simply conclude by saying don't make the emotions/passion take the best of you my brother.

Hahahaaa let me kanumba a little bit,the things are getting "cotton fire"..(Mambo yamepamba moto) and i waited for this until the sun get mmmh!!! let me put records straight, Mashaka has been desperate and forlorn and that enough reason for me to believe this guy called Joseph Hikalimba is John Mashaka himself trying to change ID's as he normally does and incriminate non-existant names to make him look better for god sake.Myself being somebody who been following Mashaka's pattern, i must confess that i come to realize this dude is up to no good.Until is proven otherwise US-Blogger is a heck of robust young man who indeed gonna make the changes that we are all desperately need in our nation.

Dear Mr. so called Concerned Tanganyikan. Please be assured that even if our leaders sign these agreements, we Tanzanians strongly oppose the East African Community business. First our land and people are more at peace with the way we are. We have our own culture and customs that we dont want to abandon. Our land is beautiful and secondly in our major big cities we dont have Slams like Kariobangi and the like. We dont have people sleeping in boxes since they were born until they grow old. The few poor beggers that you see in our streets are healthy (mashavu yao yamenona, unless kama anavuta unga) unlike the beggers in Uganda and Kenya (jamani utasikitika), why? We are rich at heart, tunagawana umasikini. The only reason you want us to join this E. A. community, I pressume is because you are not a Tanzanian.

Always, grade A is better than grade B. Hata kama ni dagaa za Kauzu, zile za grade A zinapendwa zaidi. Tena si ajabu wewe japo unajiita mmarekani kila mwaka unaagiza nsenene utumiwe kwa EMS.
