TANZANIA AND DEVELOPMENT
I spend almost 3hrs on my computer every day but it seems most of my time is consumed by lovely michuzi blog.it is good to see how fellow Tanzanians express their views. They are so many people with very interesting ideas.
It is sad to see how eager Tanzanians are when comes to the issue of development although elements of developent seems to be stagnant on our lovely homeland.I have worked in Tanzania but then i decided to join ze boxes that gave me a very good opportunity to make a normal comparison.
Tanzanians lets workup. my first move to enter into job market was for refugees who flooded in Ngara-kagera what i learned,Rwandese just normal people were hard working angaged in business taking all availlable opportunities buying and selling bananas, created simple transport(bicycles) ,Its true that Tanzanians were left behind and the region appeared to have abundance of opportunities thats seems to be microscopic to tanzanians.
My second move was to the Gorvernmental institutions, it is really unthinkable if we really want development in such style of ours. Here iam speechless because we are in our own world i really dont see the point why our offices are occupied by kings.its true that majority of office holders who are trusted to take charge are unapproachable.Go to universities, here i try to rewind how most of tutors were unexplainable when comes to any query and you need to sort for your own fututure. Here in uk tutors are friends you are welcome any time .so learning institutions in most cases spoils the minds of whoever they are prepairing compared to other developed Nations.
Just take two minutes close your eyes and rewind whenever you go to seek any help from esteemed Tanzanian official, how he/she sit in tax payers' chairs or how he /she talks to you.How shame to have comparison
I currently work for one of the world respected centre thats under Oxford university where iam fedup of our own system. Here i daily meet so many proffessors who are well known in the world but they are just as simple as any one else.they do anything carrying their own files pushing ze boxes and whatever is in their capacity while keeping the spirit of being productive and minimize cost.I was shorked to see how allerted this country whenever comes to cost unlike our home land.learned person backhome wont make just a cup of tea for himself,he will call secretary to pick a pen just dropped from his table. Here proffessor will push the patient if attending in wheelchair.will make own tea, wash their cups
and it is amazing how you can call their names even without their tittles unlike back home it is as if that was from us you can be fired for not calling your boss using a tittle.all those elements they are simple but iam showing how they try to simplify things and be more productive.
It was one year ago when i brought my surplus from ze boxes and i queued in one of the bank in heart of the city (baharini)i couldnt belive because if some people come with boxes of money they will be called in before others who arrived earlier.here no one is important than the other as far as the queue system is operating.it was almost 4 hours in line.Thats discasting if we really neen to fly.some people think that developement comes by proffessorialize things but actually not is simply whatever you do in normal daily life thats contribute to development as far as principles of proffessorialized things are adhehered to.
Lets make genuine transparency if we really need development.lets Campain so that Tanzanians can understand whatever is being done for them, campain for Tanzanians to seek knowladge for their survival.lets campain for responsible Gorvernment officials.Kwa wenzetu nothing to hide. There are things which we dont want to mention at all it is common back home that in any system finance officers are expected to have nice houses,TRA officials to be in high standard of life thats common and is accepeted and society is silent.but why???roots of corruption?
when i tried to compare social life we spend a lot on unnecessities.Tanzanians spend a lot for alcohol, kichen party wedding and so forth, just go around in evening how bars are flooded and it doesnt matter if you are ze king, ze box dealer or ze mkokoteni puller, thats why in economic sector breweries are wonders.here every one can afford alcohol but in comparison nothing i can say.
Development is in our hands.to my view hourly pay can make changes to our economy, politicians needs to know the importance of research based decisions.campaining to apply A E I O U we learn in school to the real life.here in UK they make sure every single normal thing base on priciples hakuna kufanya mazoea. we can try training at work places hapa hata kama una madigree kumi ni yako you will never touch someones job without training.frenkly speaking home if you have something in head no training unakuwa matawi ya juu.
job principles i mean like procurement, stock control, manual and handling, accounting you have to do whatever you learn in books.back home mteremko because business run without knowing financial positions, owners assets are unknown debtors only known to few na sometimes kulipana juu kwa juu.
also something we can do recruiting young people in simple jobs just to build working spirit,
also record keeping to be in priority.also lets allow those kenyans to give us a lesson otherwise utanzania unatumaliza we have to know that we have entered capitalism
i real see a huge difference in me working home and these capitalists.no way we need to mixup and see the fire-tumedeka mno.we need to be responsible.Tanzanians wont be ready be told truth that will cause pain.Thats why we dont want to see comrade mashaka using english we become very bitter.but we still need it recently uk statistics shows drop in their people taking foreign languages and they were alarmed and mentioned how important for their economy.Thats why politicians wont accept to to discuss corruption.but it is there.we wont want to here that we have spirit of lazziness although upo.
Wadau tunahitaji kujadili in simple way kwa mambo ya kawida ili to uproot just normal things ambazo ni vikwazo vikubwa vya maendeleo.
Mungu ibariki Tanzania

Let me first congratulate you on your fine ideas in your commentary. My only criticism is the lack of sophistication in Englishlanguage as an educated person. Your English is full of grammatical errors and you are trying to write in English but translating some words directly from Swahili which doesn't make much sense. May I suggest you write in Swahili instead until you improve in your English proficiency?
ReplyDeleteI have had some difficulties reading through your article because of many grammatical mistakes found therein. If you are serious about posting your article for public reading, please do some editing before posting, or better still, write in a language that you are good at. Writing in Kiswahili, for example, would have fulfilled your purpose better. Please take no offense.
ReplyDeleteMawazo mazuri lakini next time ANDIKA KWA KISWAHILI......English yako bado changa kuandika ESSAY ndefu hivyo.....maana hujazingatia kanuni za uandishi bora....kama CAPITALIZATION,COMMAS splices, RUN IN SENTENCES, FUSED SENTENCES, APOSTROPHES,CO-ORDINATE CONJUCTION hazijatumika vizuri, SPELLING pia.....kabla ya kupost mtafute mwalimu wa kiingereza akusaidie otherwise unaonekana UNEDUCATED wakati SIO ni lugha tuu....kumbuka watu wengi wanasoma na wengi humu wana elimu zao....TUMIA KISWAHILI TENA UTAELEWEKA ZAIDI....
ReplyDeleteIt looks like where you are, you are living with angels and it is a better place than even haven. Yes, Tanzanians are not as sophisticated as those people you are so proud of, but comparing the two is like comparing oranges and mangoes, in such your are not going to get realistic similarities or differences.
ReplyDeleteWe do not have to do and act like English people to consider our selves’ developed, in fact that is not the right way of measuring our development.
Have you tried to look at UK’s history just our of curiosity to find out how it was like when she was as young/old as Tanzania?
I realy like your contribution to the issue, kama ulivyo break down all areas which TZans think is not a part of development but real are the source and things we should consider before or look for big things. Umesema kuhusu kusimama kweny mstari na kungoja zamu it look like a very basic thing to do to let those who came first to be serve but that is the first thing one will experience once you get to TZ- home. From the airport you start feeling why did I think of coming home. Big air port New york, Amsterdam any where where there are thousands of people but basic common sense who ever is ahead get served first badala ya kujuana. Is just so frustrating after long trip that is the first thing you exeprience once you get home ( welcome) from there, every where you go same story.
ReplyDeleteTalking about work area you just don't wanna know people who have been there for generations are still there dispite young people who are graduating every year just to be given a change to practice their skills, there are not welcomed or treated like nothing. When I was home I went to university in Kenya dispite whatever we say about them, they had some kind of civilized way of doing thing and open to young people expertize, TZ never happen! After 2 years with my little BA I got nobody willing to let me step in their office door, luckly I had a chance to get here US, the inviting setting either at school or work at US is thing TZ need to learn and copy.
All said, but TZ lazima tukumbuke usemi wa mwalimu wangu wa shule ya msingi "Haki bila wajibu" we should never think any one will take as serious in anthing we do if we stick in old ways of doing thinks, we need to move with other people in the world instead of locking ourselve in the box fear challenges out there (from countries) who are willing to move with time.
God bless TZ na watu wake!!
Even here in US ukienda ubalozi is just a reminder of our office home where people are been told to waiting or come tommorow for very simple thing which should be able to be done right away.
We should agree to disagree in civilized manner and practice what we think is right. Hopefully this discussion will inspire people to do better.

ReplyDeleteUnasema unatumia kila siku takribani masaa matatu (3) kwenye computer,

Amina you sounds having some critical valid points to be addressed at back home. Me as well I noticed what you tried to narrate. One issue of hourly wage payment is very important, we need to change our wage payment system, we must stop paying people salary even if they don't come to work for weeks for ages, especially in the government sector, some do use few hours in the office then they go banana to their private businesses, just come to the office show their faces and sign attendance register. Hourly pay is very simple and juctice to the tax payers in case of government employees. It is a case of computerising things in such a way an employee when comes to work he or she has to clock in, when going for break clock out, when one comes in from break clock in and at the end of the day clock out off they go home, and at the end of the month one is paid according to how many hour he or she put in during the month. Also Corruption is another factor destroying our economy, for example you go to ARDHI you want your plot to be surveyed and get proper documents that give you entitlement of the land of which you could use to secure a loan from a financial institution by using them as collateral security, but it is very hard to get someone to do your business they will tell you that we are busy we have pending jobs/works here going back to three years ago if you want your thing to be done officially come here after three years i.e if it is 2009 then come back in year 2013, but also at the same they say we can do your work privately if you like but you have to pay some of the officials here because they gonna do it out of the office hours, and if you say yes and you pay, then you will see them closing everything they were doing on the spot and take you on the government car with government's equipments and government's time. So it is another way of seeking bribe but they can't say it directly. We are very far indeed and I am afraid we will not reach others where they are. in China corruption is a big offense and purnishable by death sentence, in USA if you have been guility of corruption you will die in jail, it's sentence is not less than 100 years in jail. Corruption is a mother of all evils, a country with massive corruption activities will not ever develop, we need to chage our mind set. Aquestion of UZALENDO and loving each other regardless who you are is very important we must see each other like NDUGU, you pain is my pain, you happiness is my happiness, is not good to each and everyone of us enjoying living in this world? is not it?
ReplyDeleteTANZANIA WOULD GLOW UP EVEN BY ITS MARGINAL UTILITY IT DOESN`T MEAN THAT THOSE WHO DO NOT LIKE IT WILL SUCCEED IN THIS OPERATIONS OF CORRUPTIONS. ONCE NYERERE SAID WE CAN REACH FAR IF EVERY SINGLE PERSON DO ITS RESPONSIBILITIES AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER, I FIND IT HARDEST TO BELIVE TODAY MUCH TANZANIANS HATE EACH OTHER LIKE HELL. THUS IF WE NEED MORE PRODUCTIVITY OF MARGINAL COST WE WILL HAVE TO CUT SPENDING AND INCREASING CONSUPTONS, LAW MATERIALS AND MININGS ARE SO POPULAR TODAY THAN YESTERDAY MARKET. MICHUZI HOWEVER YOU DECIDES TO MINIMIZE MY COMENTS I WOULD CONTINUES TO BE YOUR FAVORABLE FRIEND OF ALL TIMES. I THINK YOU ARE CUTE AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO SOCIETY IF FULL OF EDUCATIONS AND HELPING OTHERS. WE LOVED YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND WISDOM. GOD PLAY FOR YOU TO LIVE LONGEST STYLE LIFE.
IN GOD I TRUST,TO SERVE MEN NEMAND THE CALL OF DUTY, AND IS WORTHY TO DO SO IN ONE HEART,SOUL AND MIND. WHEN IAM GONE THE HISTORY SHALL STAND TO TESTIFY.
MUDA WA MASAA MATATU SIKUBALII NAO KAMA UNATUMIA KWENYE WEBSITE HII...UNAJUWA SISI WASWAHILI TUNA TABIA SANA YA AJABU, KAMA WADAU WALIVYOTANGULIA KUSEMA, KISWAHILI NI LUGHA TAMU SANA. zingatia kuwa web hii inatumiwa na wengi sana wasoma kiswahili...simpangilii mtu kuandika kiingereza au kiswahili...ila ni vizuri uaddress kiswahili hata wale ambao wasiopitia shule wanufaike...sasa umeona kasheshe ya kuandika artical yako amabayo ina makosa ya lugha za watu...au ndugu yangu HII ILIKUWA ASSIGNMENT YAKO UNAHITAJI COMPLIMENTS NA POINTS ZA KUEENGEZEA?????
ReplyDeleteKaka Trio I agree with you, watoto
ReplyDeletewetu wamekwenda nchi za nje,sasa
wanaona Tanzania haifai, there is no place like home, hawa vijana ndo
inabidi sasa warudi kuendesha nchi
and not compare it with developed
countries, I came back to Tanzania every year and I love Tanzania, and I will be coming back for good
nataka kusaidia nchi yangu, nchi kama US ukiwa mzee ndo hawakutaki tena.
is just amazing how we are, that to me is clear that we are not on making things better but just keep on talking negatively instead of having positive contribution to individuals who are ready to rise and speak out. AMINA WAS JUST TRYING TO HIGH LIGHT AND BRING IN TO OUR ATTENTION WHERE WE ARE DOING WRONG. instead of being complimented for that more than 70% of responces have been english, lingustic or communicaton lecturers. CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE AND COMMENT ON WHAT SAID AND NOT HOW IS SAID but I can not blame you "uswahili mwingi" we just pick on negative badala ya ku built on what is positive.
ReplyDeleteIF YOU DON'T BELEIVE WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT THEY WILL SAY ABOUT THIS.
FOR ME,I AGREE TO WHAT SHE SAID AND HOPE WE CAN LEARN SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE US BETTER AND HOPEFULLY HAVE A STEP AHEAD FOR OUR BEUTIFUL TZ.

ReplyDeleteNAOMBA NIOSHE KINYWA PIA KIDOGO:
I WONDER MANY READERS ARE VERY CONCERNED WITH THE LANGUAGE STANDARD USED BY THIS FELLOW. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO DIFFER WITH MANY OF YOU READERS. IN FACT, THIS FELLOW HAS USED KIS-ENGLISH LANGUAGE, WHICH IS A VERY COMMON LANGUAGE TO MANY TANZANIANS.
ReplyDeleteWHAT IS IMPORTANT IS A MESSAGE INTENDED, WHICH I THINK HAS BEEN DELIVERED.
WRITER DO NOT DESPAIR TO WRITE AGAIN WHENEVER YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SHARE WITH BLOG READERS. WHAT IS IMPORTANT IT TO DELIVER A MESSAGE.
WHAT YOU HAVE PUT FORWARD IS VERY SIMPLE THINGS BUT WHICH CAN MAKE A LOT OF DIFFERENCES IN OUR DAILY LIFE FOR BETTER.

ReplyDeleteyaani watu na akili zao wanaingia hapa kubishana nani anajua kingereza.
are you guys ok? something must be wrong somewhere.
kwendeni zenu huko, badala ya kubishania vitu vya maana kwa lugha mnayoielewa, nyie mnahangaikia nani kaandika vizuri lugha za watu. kwani huko Japani, Ujerumani, Ufaranza n.k wanajua hicho kingereza? mbona wanamaendeleo makubwa? kweli wajinga ndiyo waliwao, nyie endeleeni kubishania lugha za watu tu, mtabaki hapo hapo.
Hamna lolote, kelele nyingi tu.

NDUGU ZANGU WATANZANIA!
ReplyDeleteMimi siko ktk kushindana lugha!
Mwenye akili atanielewa niliyoandika atakaye sema eti hata kiswahili kimenishinda abarikiwe.

watanzania wanachosha ukienda chi za watu wenye kiingereza chao wana hadi madaktari wenye kiingereza cha ovyo ila wao wanajitahidi kupata ujumbe si kuona lugha.ukiongea na vichwa mabox anakazana kuangalia makosa wapi unakosea badala ya kupick ujumbe.DU KAZI TUNAYO.Ndo maana tunadunda palepale miaka dahali ya uhuru,Mdau 10:41 unaelewa mambo,ni kichefuchefu
