Dear Mr Mramba,

Its with deep regret that I have to inform you that the PHASE TRIPPING AT 870 MFAUME ROAD has NOT been solved infact it has increased. Initially I was getting a good support from Regional Manager Ilala but now it seems he has given up working with a lousy team or things are probably out of his reach.

The new transformer that you had arranged to support our building and the neighborhood has been overloaded by the same building which was the cause of overload in the old transformer and now inspite of having a new transformer dedicated to us we still suffer with PHASE TRIPPING which takes Tanesco Emergency team hours to respond to so we have to suffer the normal load shedding together with PHASE TRIPPING after load shed hours. This is UNFAIR.

If you remember that when you had visited the site, it was clearly shown that according to your drawing a 3 storey building existed next door and not the 10 + 4 storey building, The meter unit that were issued were not corresponding to your records and it was agreed that this building will be kept temporarily on the old transformer meanwhile your offices will give him a deadline to install or buy another transformer and if nothing has been done he shall be disconnected from power as the consumption of the building is massive. Despite your suggestion this building has now been given power from our new installed transformer and this problem will continue unless and until the building has its own separate transformer.

A nationwide problem of load shed and power rationing is understandable but when the whole city has power and just for the comfort of a huge building who exploits the resources to its maximum and few flats around the area face the phase tripping it is NOT acceptable.

I had received a letter from EWURA sometime back and I was asked if the problem was solved or not to which I did not reply as I knew it was just a temporary step taken to keep me quiet and not a permanent one as you had committed in your letter to EWURA.

On Saturday 12th March 2011 we had a power cut at 8am then power was resumed at 10:40 am then in the afternoon it was cut from 1.20pm to 2.15pm then again at 6pm it went and came back at 11:20pm then again it went at 1am on Sunday 13th March 2011 and was returned at 3.45am and then at 8am it was cut and returned at 6.25pm. Yesterday Monday 14th March 2011 we had a power cut at 8am and was resumed at 6:30pm again the power went off at 10pm when I contacted Mr Luoga via sms and was returned for two minutes at 10.55pm then the blackout due to phase tripping continued upto 3am. We do not know when it is a Load shed and rationing and when there is a phase trip, we just experience total black out.

Due to no rains mtera and kidatu cannot supply enough power it is understandable but who is to be blamed when the power is there but due to one giant consumer who has gotten away without buying the transformer and creating power shortage or sabotage to the neighbors? As agreed the new transformer was to provide the tenants in and around 870 mfaume road with power and NOT to share the heavy overload caused by a building which has standby arrangements and affordability to purchase a separate transformer.

I know you do not like me to mail a lot of people but I gave you a chance to assist me yet things didn’t work out as we had agreed

Yours regretfully

  3. How and when will a country called Tanzania at 50 years still relies on mtera, mvua and such nonsense with no electricity, no water, corrupted officials, and stale health system how do you think the population is enduering this? 50 (fifty)years on and nothing has changed apart from the ministers treating the system as their way of changing cars, amassing wealth, and forgeting their duty is to serve the people they mistreat. THIS IS TANZANIA 50YRS ON AND STILL NO POWER, WATER OR JOBS ARE AVAILABLE TO ITS PEOPLE. TANESCO, TANESCO, DONT YOU THINK ITS TIME THE WHOLE GOVERNMENT WOKE UP FROM SLEEP???
HOW WILL WE SING MAENDELEO IN THE 21ST CENTURY WITH US DEPENDING ON MVUA TRANSFORMERS AND SUCH STUPIDITY? A country which has numerous water resources has no electricity ? when will CORRUPTION STOP IN THESAKE OF HUMANITY?

  8. What an analytical and fair complaint! I wish all Tanzanians had the courage to DEMAND acceptable services from public corporations and the Government because WE PAY for them. This is just like what CHADEMA is doing, sensitizing people to DEMAND government accoutability to produce public goods taxpayers are paying for including electricity.

  9. Hivi sheria si ipo ya umeme nakumbuka ya 2008 inayoruhusu makampuni mengine kuja kupambamba na huyu TANESCO ambaye tumemchoka, sasa kwanini makapuni hayo ya nje hayeleti mitambo kila siku mara tunaazima, mara kuna miradi lukuki?

  10. I have written this in english language as most of those who drive the X5 and range rovers have forgotten their language, values and duties towards the general public. You will see all the governmental structures are in need of our money for their developments and not the for the country's betterment. The believe in technicality rather than morality. 11. I've to admit the 1st time i visited umeme blog i thought it was created as a channel of communication btw the two, TANESCO and Customers...unfortunately, we have to post our complaints on to Ankal's blog while wao wanepost mada za "Wanawake wakiwezeshwa wanaweza " I stay in mbezi (Tank Bovu) area yaani apart from mgao wa kila siku, kila alfajiri btw 3-5am lazima umeme ukatike for at least 30min...when u call TANESCO m'chen (BUNCH OF IDIOTS) - they sound like they got an AMNESIA - they also don't know y that problem exists and don't even bother to investigate the matter! yday evening around 6pm, i found TANESCO truck (SU .....) parked near general Mboma's residence - the fundis wea busy fixing people's generators kwa kitu kidogo - wtf!!!

  13. Mimi nafikiri hiyo pesa wanayotaka kuspend kusherehekea miaka 50 ya Uhuru ingewekwa kwenye umeme sioni sababu ya kusherehekea wakati watu bado wako gizani tunasherekea nini? mimi nafikiri pia watanzania tujifunze kuchukua hatua kama kuandamana sababu tunapenda sana kulalamika lakini hatuchukui hatua ndio maana hakuna anaetuchukulia seriously wanajua mtalalamika halafu mtanyamaza and life goes on.

  14. to sum it up right this is the time to act kwani nani kati ya hao waliojiita viongozi wanajali? they have umeme, mji na magari ya serikali kuwabebea maji hayo. pia wanamajenereta na walinzi wa kuyalinda ili yasiibiwe wewe unafikiri Bharwani kulalamika alijisemea yeye tuuu? na tuamke huu sio wakati wa kulala usingizi wa kukatiwa umeme, maji, kila siku na tukaridhika, shame on these viongozi.hii ni miaka 50 ya ujinga na sio uhuru
