| Former President Benjamin Mkapa |
Former President Benjamin Mkapa has been appointed by Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), to join a newly formed Panel of Eminent Persons which is tasked to review the role of developing countries in a new global economic governance architecture.
The Panel is going to hold its first meeting in Geneva, on 31 May and 01 June 2011.

Professor Jagdish Bhagwati of Columbia University
H.E. Margarita Cedeno De Fernandez ( Dominican Republic)
Former President Joaquim Alberto Chissano of Mozambique
Former President Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki of South Africa
Lord Malloch-Brown of United Kingdom
H.E. Yongtu Long of China
Dr. Mo Ibrahim of Sudan
H.E Mari Elka Pangestu of Indonesia.
Former President Mkapa is expected to leave Dar es Salaam later today and he will be in Geneva until June 3, 2011 when he will return home.
