Reigning Miss Tabata Consolata LukosiSeventeen contestants have been dropped from competing in this year’s Miss Tabata beauty contest set for early next month at Da’ West Park, Tabata.
The co-ordinator of the event, Joseph Kapinga, said yesterday that the queens were dropped after failing to meet qualifications while others were sent home because of ill-discipline.
Those who have been axed are Shadya Ali (21), Consolata Michael (22), Upole Athumani (19), Chiku Adolph (18), Blandina Paul (18), Victoria Magulo (20), Irene Jafari (19), Asia Amiri (22), Catherine Geodfrey (19) and Winfrida Gilbat (21).
Others are Janeth Marandu (21), Esther Simon (18), Mariam Lameck (19), Malaika Abdallah (18), Sarah Hangaya 20, Axa Sosthenes (22) and Esther Gideon (20).
“We are still continuing with registration exercise. We appeal for those who have criteria to turn up in big numbers,” he said.
Kapinga said that 21 contestants had remained in the camp doing rehearsals under trainers Rehema Uzuia 'Sweet Ray' and Joyce Joseph Kaniki.
They are Dorice Mutabingwa (22), Marion Augustino (19), Edina Mnada (21), Mgayo Haruna (21), Godliver Mashamba (22), Juanita Kanyika (22), Theckler Benedict (19), Lucia Joseph (20), Angela Fotnatus (20), Neema Marwa, (18) and Happiness Emmanuel (18).
There are also Lucy Mboya (21), Neema Mwakibinga (21), Sweetlily Suleiman (21), Nasra Salim (21), Lilian Bryson (22), Happiness Masanja (21), Mariam Manyanya (21), Faiza Ally (19), Catherine Julius (20), Sheilah Soud (20), Augustina Mshanga (20), Cresencia Haule (20), Patricia Eliah (20) and Angela Benard (18).
Ten contestants will qualify for Miss Ilala before advancing to Vodacom Miss Tanzania final later in the year.
Kapinga said that the main sponsor of the contest would be named later. Some of the companies which have turned up as co- sponsors are Integrated Communications, Paris Pub, Ben Expedition, Chicken Hut and issmichuzi blogspot.
Consolata Lukosi is the reigning Miss Tabata. The queen emerged runner-up at Vodacom Miss Tanzania final last year. She also crowned Miss Redds Ambassador.
Miss Tabata is organized by Bob Entertainment and Keen Arts.
