The global and national environmental priorities identified by representatives based on three focal areas which are Biodiversity, Climate Change and Sustainable Land Management (SLM) will be so useful to the country and for sustainable livelihoods of people.
Assistant Director of Environment in Vice Presidents office, Mr. Stephen Nkondokaya said that yesterday when closing a two days National Consultative workshop on the identification of national priorities under GEF STAR-5 which intends to strengthen each country’s ability to ensure Global Environmental Fund (GEF) resources are been allocated in a transparency manner.
Nkondokaya added that the proposed environmental priorities will help to address environmental challenges namely in the following areas: biodiversity, climate change, and land degradation. Also, urged stakeholders to ensure timely submission of proposals from their respective sectors.
The two days National Consultative workshop on the identification of national priorities under GEF STAR-5, bunged up yesterday in Dar es salaam organised by Vice President’s Office including various representative from both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, representing key Ministries, local government, International Organisation, Development partners, Academic and Research Institutions, Private sector and NGO’s/CBOs.
