HON. CHIKAWE OPENS A RETREAT BETWEEN THE AFRICAN COURT ON HUMAN AND PEOPLES’ RIGHTS AND THE PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE COMMITTEE OF THE AFRICAN UNION (PRC) – MOUNT MERU HOTEL ARUSHA

Hon Mathias Chikawe (Mp), Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, has on 29th October 2012 opened a retreat between the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the Permanent Representative Committee of the African Union (PRC). The aim of the retreat was to sensitize relevant Members of the PRC about the functions of the Court with a view of exploring ways and means in which PRC could become more involved in promoting the Court. Hon Chikawe has assured the Court and the AU that the Government of Tanzania as the host country of the African Court will continue to ensure the effective implementation of the host agreement. He urged member states of the AU to ratify the Protocol and make declarations.
