The Director at Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions
(SPIDER) Prof Paula Uimonen.
Spider, together with the ICT4Democracy East Africa Network will
host a Workshop at the House of Culture, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on the 5th
to the 6th of December 2012 (participation by invitation only).
The ICT4Democracy in East Africa Network is premised on the
recognition that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) enhance
communication and the right to freedom of expression, as well as the right to
seek, receive and impart information. In Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, partners
of the Swedish Program for ICTs in Developing Regions (SPIDER) are leveraging
ICTs to hold leaders accountable to their citizens, as well as to fight
corruption, monitor service delivery, and contribute to building a democratic
culture in the region. (For further information please visit www.ict4democracy.org).
The
focus of the upcoming workshop is to sustain the on-going collaborations,
review the important work being accomplished by the partners, and build further
networks to enhance the sustainability of the initiatives. Presentations will
be made by each of the partners in the ICT4Democracy East Africa Network, as
well as representatives from the Spider Cambodia ICT4D network.
HASANTE SANA SPIDER KWA MCHANGO MKUBWA KATIKA NCHI HII.
