The government will continue to support efforts made by the Tanzania Commission of Science and Technology and the Dar Teknokama Business Incubator (DTBi) in building on technological innovations that tie actions with results towards revolutionizing socio – economic development.

Speaking during the just ended Smart Partnership Dialogue meet in Dar es Salaam, President Dr. Jakaya Kikwete singled out the good work done by DTBi incubatee Maxcom Africa in bringing utility payment services closer to the people saying ‘congratulations MaxMalipo, You have made us proud particularly in our collective efforts in closing the Information Technology gap!’

The Global 2013 International Smart Partnership Dialogue was attended by a long list of African leaders and representatives from Asia and Europe and engaged participants in a dialogue under the banner ‘Leveraging Technology for Africa’s Socio – Economic Transformation’ the Smart Partnership Way.

While the DTBi has served as a centre for technology start-ups and promotes the growth of ICT technology based emerging companies, Maxcom Africa as a growing technology integrating company has experienced enormous success through its brand MaxMalipo in improving access to affordable and convenient utility payment services up to village level.

President Kikwete noted that African Countries were faced with such challenges as improving technological accessibility at affordable levels and said MaxMalipo was a good example of local innovations that have played an important role in revolutionizing socio – economic development both in Tanzania and neighboring countries.

He said: “We will continue to support such innovations that help our people utilize technology in making life easier. MaxMalipo is such an innovation that has set the stage in reaching out to the people with result oriented technological payment solutions. We are particularly proud of them. Their success is our success and we will support such initiatives.’
