Elvira van Eijl, renowned art Historian and Curator will host three (visual) lectures about contemporary art history at Nafasi Art Space. The lectures are open to all Nafasi members and interested visual artists

Lecture 1: The influence of African Art on the development of Western Modern Art - Date: 7 August 2013

Lecture 2: International Contemporary Art with a focus on African Art part I with, among others: What is happening in the international visual art world What is happening in contemorary African Art world - Date: 12 August 2013 

Lecture 3: International Contemporary Art with a focus on African Art part II with, among other topics How does Applied and Fine arts come together

These lectures are open to all Nafasi members and interested visual artists, and other people who are interested in the arts. Please share the lectures info with your artists friends. Especially for Nafasi members, Elvira, will hold in the week from 6-13 August one on one meetings to discuss individual portfolios, she can help with writing, advising and editing of art statements, CV's, portfolio pictures etc.

About Elvira Van Eijl
Elvira van Eijl was born in Enschede Netherlands. Her parents were both sculptors. She studied history of art in Amsterdam. She worked for 25 years in ArtEZ Academy of Fine Art and Design in Enschede, 15 years in a gallery of modern art in Amsterdam and owned her own gallery for 13 years in Enschede. Next to that she is the director of an antiquarian art bookstore in Amsterdam and Enschede. 
Elvira gives lectures about modern and contemporary art in Holland and Germany, writes articles for catalogues and makes speeches for openings of exhibitions. She is a member of many cultural advisory committees (of the province / city) and the founder and organizer of AKI Festival (7 editions) a one-week cultural event in the city center of Enschede. She organizes interventions and interactions between artists and the public. She has been a curator of exhibitions in Holland and Poland (recently Poznan) and is the founder and curator of the Art Brut Biennale Holland
