December 2013
The year 2013 has been a great one for MultiChoice Africa
which saw fantastic new channels launched on the DStv platform, great consumer campaigns
and the introduction of innovative new technology.
DStv audiences now get a better viewing experience
with the expanded number of new channels across a range of genres.
In 2013, MultiChoice Africa launched a total
of 13 channels which include three M-Net Series Channels, M-Net Movies Zone,
Fox, Ebony Life, Telemundo, Hip TV, Spice TV, CBS Action, CBS Drama, JimJam and
MGM. One of the channels that have taken audiences by storm is the first
telenovela-dedicated channel, Telemundo,
a genre which has proven to be a hit with DStv subscribers.
TLC Entertainment,
which used to be known as Discovery TLC is also keeping subscribers entertained
with programming from the international queen of talk, Oprah Winfrey’s network,
OWN.
As a business born and bred in Africa,
celebrating Africa is a key priority for the business. In partnership with Africa Magic, MultiChoice
Africa celebrated a new milestone with the launch of the annual inaugural
Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in March 2013.
The awards recognize and reward proudly
African film and television talent. There was also an exclusive broadcast of
the 50th African Union celebrations held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and
was screened live on the DStv’s events channel.
The company once again celebrated another
successful season of Big Brother Africa, which broke a number of records
especially on the show’s social media networks, Facebook and Twitter. The
number of votes on this year’s Big Brother The Chase far exceeded that of
previous seasons.
Speaking during a dinner organized for
members of the press by MultiChoice, MultiChoice Tanzania Public Relations
Manager, Barbara Kambogi said, “Our media partners have played a significantly
important role in assisting us to highlight and celebrate our achievements, key
messages and our world-class content into the public spaces within Africa. MultiChoice
would like to thank all our media partners for the constant support on all our
initiatives and we hope that the relationship we share continues to grow. Let
us keep working together to bring our people So Much More from DStv.
