GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro police have identified the man who died in a wreck Monday morning on I-40 East in Greensboro.
Officers say his name was Ghazal Mohamed Omar, of Burlington.According to the Greensboro Police Department, a woman driving a Ford Focus lost control of her vehicle. She hit a guardrail and a tractor-trailer hit her as she came back on the highway.
Omar was the passenger in the Focus. EMS took him to Moses Cone Hospital where he died from his injuries. Police said the woman driver was seriously injured in the accident and went to a hospital for surgery.
The wreck happened before 9 a.m. Monday around mile marker 220.Police closed all lanes for more than 3 1/2 hours while they cleared and investigated the accident. The lanes reopened around 12:30 p.m.
