ROTARY Clubs of Dar es salaam this weekend officially handed over a clean drinking water facility to the students of Buguruni Primary School for the deaf. 
The facility which cost around Tsh. 15 million is part of the “Water for Life” project which is geared to provide sustainable and cost effective water supply as well as providing clean filtered and purified drinking water and water for hand washing, toilet flushing and cleaning of the schools. During the handover ceremony the Chairman of Tanzania Society for the Deaf (TSD) N’nyapule Madai expressed his appreciation to Rotary for choosing the school as part of the project. 
“On behalf of TSD, the students and staff of this school I would like to express sincere gratitude for your kind generosity and for being a long term partner of this school. 
"The provision of clean water for our community here will go a long way to ensure our students are drinking safe clean water which is readily available and therefore prevent some diseases which arise from drinking unsafe water.” 
Buguruni Primary School of the deaf is run by Tanzania Society for the Deaf since 1974 and is home to over 270 students who have different kinds of hearing impairments. 
Speaking on behalf of Rotary Clubs of Dar, Wilbard Kassian of Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam North said that “Water for Life” project is one of the most important undertakings by the clubs of Dar es Salaam which has benefit over 15,000 students in various primary schools in Dar es Salaam. “Providing clean water is one the main areas of focus for Rotarians all over the world also including combating hunger, improving health and eradicating polio. 
"Since 2010 we have had the pleasure of providing clean water and sanitation for students from 19 schools in Dar es Salaam. And today we are delighted to handover this water facility so that these special students can begin enjoying clean water.” 
 Rotary Clubs of Dar es Salaam have been on the fore front of implementing numerous community service projects in the region including the construction of the Muhimbili Cancer ward for children, participating in activities to prevent diseases like Malaria and polio, as well as community and education development activities. 
 Dar es Salaam region has six Rotary clubs which are Dar es Salaam North, Bahari, Mzizima, Dar es Salaam, Oysterbay and Mikocheni.
