One of Tanzania’s premier secondary
schools, St. Mary’s Mazinde Juu Secondary School of Lushoto, Tanga, this year
celebrates 25 years of its existence. The Silver Jubilee event will be marked by a
major expansion project of the school to be funded by initially by private donations.
A program released by the school shows that Jubilee activities will start on
by the former Prime Minister, Hon. Edward Lowassa, who will grace the event
as the Guest of Honour, at the Msimbazi Centre in Dar es Salaam, from 10:00 am
February 2014 with a major fund raising activity to be presided over
St. Mary’s Mazinde Juu, whose nationwide ranking was 8th
in 2013 for A-level, was established in 1989.
As the school marks 25 years
of its existence, they plan to mobilize funds from well-wishers for construction of
various buildings at the school premises based in Lushoto, Tanga.
“The funds will be used for construction of modern science and computer
laboratories, staff houses and a modern sports hall for indoor games,” says Sister
