The Secretary General of the East African Community Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera continued with his engagement in Brussels and today met H.E. Didier Reynders, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, External Trade and European Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium. Amb. Sezibera also met H.E. Jean-Pascal Labille, the Kingdom’s Minister for Public Enterprises and Development Cooperation.
Amb. Sezibera, who is in Brussels at the invitation of the European Commission and European External Action Service, discussed with the two Ministers how to enhance further the bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Belgium and the EAC.
The Secretary General lauded the recent decision by the Belgium Government to further support the EAC in areas of Peace and Security and Infrastructure development including Energy and Natural resources.
Amb. Sezibera will be taking part today in the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, and Indian Ocean’s 11th European Development Fund (EDF) regional programming scheduled for 13-14 March 2014 in Brussels.
He is expected to join CEOs of other RECs in the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, and Indian Ocean Union region to finalize the Rules of Procedures, Memorandum of Understanding on the governance of the Regional Indicative Programme; and a list of actions to be financed under the cross-regional envelope.
